Talking about Suzuka circuit, would Mugello be considered to be the European version of Suzuka, fast on the edge circuit?

The Japanese races aren't exactly all that these days, but the circuit is quite a challenge in qualifying. I expect that to be the most interesting part of this Grand Prix weekend, as recent years don't give much hope that the race will be anything other than Red Bull trying not to dominate too embarrassingly.
In any case, it'll be good to come to a race with a genuinely passionate crowd.

i don't know about challenges, but i can tell you this, in sim racing, this track is the most rewarding of them all, getting all the corners right, specially the degner and the spoon is pure Ecstasy. and i'll bet, the drivers enjoy this even more with a pointy car like RBR
i'm doing my practice ahead of the gp, done 23 laps yesterday (on my pc, like all other circuits, it's a habit of mine )

FOR KIMI RÄIKKÖNEN, SUZUKA IS WHAT REAL RACING IS ALL ABOUT
http://www.lotusf1te...ng-is-All-About
SUZUKA IS UP NEXT; WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CIRCUIT?
but this is a track I look forward to every season. It’s a proper circuit that’s been around for a many years, and you can understand why as it’s a challenge for the drivers and usually makes for some good racing too. Suzuka is fast, technical and there are some good places to overtake, which to me is what racing should be about.
YOU DESCRIBE IT AS A CHALLENGE; WHAT IS IT THAT REALLY PUSHES YOU IN THE COCKPIT HERE?It’s a bit of everything really. There are some corners where you are flat out – or very nearly flat out – but then there are others where you really have to balance the braking and throttle carefully to maintain the best speed. If you push too hard then you can easily be punished, as I found out in qualifying last year when I was on my best lap in the final session
WOULD YOU SAY THIS IS QUITE A SPECIAL VENUE FOR YOU AS A DRIVER?As a racing circuit it has unique characteristics and belongs in the top three in the world with Spa and Monaco .... I had a good race at Fuji too. It was that wet race back in 2007 when I came from pretty far back to a podium finish, but Suzuka 2005 is my best memory from Japan. It’s very difficult to say which is your best race – especially if you have won many – but coming from the last row of the grid to take victory at a place like this is one I remember very, very well.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT JAPAN AS A COUNTRY?I particularly like Tokyo and always have a good time when I visit there. It’s a fun place, there is a lot going on, and I do enjoy sushi…

I'll always remember Suzuka '12 qualifying where Kimi spun out and ruined Alonso's lap, leading to his midpack start, subsequent DNF, and Vettel WDC.

The Japanese GP in 2007 was run at Fuji...
I was going to answer that, given that we all know Kimi is kind of an absent-minded guy who gets lost quite easily, all that rain and low visibility was a very good excuse for Räikkönen not to know where he was driving that day, but he actually knew: Eronrules cut the quote where he/she shouldn't. Full sentence is "I had a good race at Fuji too. It was that wet race back in 2007 when I came from pretty far back to a podium finish, but Suzuka 2005 is my best memory from Japan."

Utter bullshit.
If Red Bull continues dominating for three additional years, you'll be the first whining about "I need a change, this is becoming boring!"
You're the ultimate weathercock.

MotoGP used to have both, and I love 'em both, but Suzuka is something very, very special. I can't think of any other circuit which such a variety in it's corners without becoming excessively winding.
A weather cock is a sort of rooster which tells the weather. LOL.

A weathercock changes its orientation depending on the wind, it tells you which direction the wind is coming from (like a windsock at an airport).
If you call someone that, you are implying that they change their mind easily, maybe too easily influenced.

Thank you for the kind explanation. So a weathervane, then. Do you know a word for a person who doesn't know how to click on a username and look at all of a guy's posts to realize the person isn't a weathercock? I'm sure it's somethingcock.

The circuit is located in a village which is around one hour of local train from the nearest big city -- Nagoya.
Nagoya is well-developed enough to have her own international airport and located in the mid-way point between Tokyo and Osaka. It takes around half hour of air flight or 90 mins of bullet train from either Tokyo and Osaka.

Thanks for the photo's Muramasa. Seems the atmosphere is great, as it usually is at the Japanese Grand Prix.
One thing that has always surprised me somewhat is that a lot of Japanese fans wave national flags to show their support for a driver, rather than the flag of the team. I don't think you'd have many French, English or Finnish fans waving the German flag to support Schumacher or Vettel, but perhaps I'm wrong!

from thursday, sites like nextgen, motorsports.com etc starts to put pics and usually they offer hi-res and more pics, so maybe there are some.
I dont know what the thing is but I see them time to time since 2010 or so. I remember seeing pics of Hamashima and Alonso sitting next to that thing in the pit last year.

Maybe, but sth like this is what we see everywhere isnt it?
and I guess not all those Kimi fans in European GPs are actually Finnish.
But yeah, I'm surprised by the variety of fans here. Not just current yet still minor drivers but retired ones as well. I think there was this "I love DC" banner in the main stand, last year in 2012!
