So, it's both Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta and Mount Fuji this weekend, foolishly scheduled to happen in one tight space. Which are you going to watch, or both? Only answer if you're planning to watch in the first place...

PLM will be live on FOX Sports 1 & 2 (mostly 2), Motors TV and alms.com streaming

Fuji will be live on Motors TV, Eurosport (a bit) and ACO's streaming services

Added an extra question about the future of Petit.

Petit Le Fujimans!

Toyotas are looking great at Fuji, and look like they can take it to Audi. Rebellion have been showing Muscle Milk the way so far this weekend, and I hope they can keep it up.

The USCC I'm still divided on.

I'm alone at home, so I'll probably try to catch both... if not, the start of Petit and the end of Fuji. Fingers crossed for a Toyota win. As for USCC... I'm going to follow it next year without expecting anything.

So Fuji's still underwater then? I don't understand why the FIA like to schedule in Japanese races for October...

Uhm, why was the Petit based on laps this year?

Nothing's wrong with october scheduling. Oct isnt particular rainy season in Japan as some data suggest. June is the worst followed by sept. Oct isnt a driest month, but 2nd half of october is one of the best seasons as fall rainy season is over by then.

If they can race sometime during Nov-April that's better in terms of avoiding rain, but from Nov-Feb it's just too cold, March too windy. So that leaves April and May. July and August isnt bad but very hot. All in all, late oct is actually one of the best options.

Problem is that in any season, when low pressure system passes by, it just continues to rain. Same as what happened at Suzuka in quali couple years ago as well as in race 1994.

atm low pressure system is passing by and cold front developing rapidly over Japan, so it's expected to continue to rain until nighttime.

Worked the Petit Le Mans today and absolutely loved it. Awesome atmosphere there as always--nothing else compares.

We'll miss you, P1--come back to US racing soon!

It was 1000kms OR 10 Hours, but seeing as to stretch the race into 10 hours you'd have to average a 62mph lap it was always going to be distance.

As for reasons... not a clue, but perhaps a budget thing like the Suzuka 1000km being cut to 700km a few years ago in SuperGT (it's since gone back to the original distance).

Figured I'd watch the Fuji race, but I guess the joke is now on me. I mostly feel bad for the Japanese fans, who put up with such a rainy day to come watch the race live. As much as I liked to complain about the farcical Canadian F1 race a few years ago, at least the people there got to see some worthwhile racing in the end.

looking at radar, it looks like the last batch of strong rain is passing over Fuji right at this moment, and the rain will start to clear after 1700 local time, with no further rain cloud coming. How unlucky. Just very bad timing. Forecast for this evening and tomorrow is fine,
