Results

Hi everyone.

Since my teen years when I discovered motor(car)racing AND the TT road racing World championships , I have done statistics on the results.

1-2 sheets (A4) with drivers at the link side and venues at the top acrass , then you have a diagram to fill out the placings over a year. I said placings , as points would never do for me. I wanted to know ALL of a drivers results.

In the 60's I for some time had a monthly motorcycle magazine (not Motor Cycle News weekly) of which I cannot remember the name ...."Motor Cycle" ? They usually showed the finishers , and when you read the race report , you could pick up 3-10 more riders Thus nearly giving COMPLETE results.

I did some faults in my statistics then , and don't feel I can fully trust them , so am looking for complete results and/or that Magazine from 1949 to 1967 .

There are results from 1949 there and includes the TT up the mid 70's (although just first 6 it seems).

 

If you are looking for F1 (cars) results too formula1.com has a similar database.

I am really surprised that no one looks to be interested in complete results ! Is that really so ?

Bjorn, I'm also surprised. I cann find any number of sources for car racing results but bikes? I'm trying to find results for the three bike races at the 1957 Gold Cup Meeting at Oulton Park, which was a mixed event. The two car races, no problem, but the 350, 500 and sidecars I'm drwing a blank.

I expect you are already aware of this, but the Isle of Man TT site has a database with full results of all TT races: http://www.iomtt.com/TT-Database.aspx

Bjorn we are interested I am sure, but if none of us have anything to help we cant? Most people would long a go have thrown out the newspapers & magazines from back then, its only now with this sort of thing/forums etc that we wished we had kept them all.

Hope you do get the info you want, but sadly I cant help this time.

The TT Races and GP's are well covered, but other races......nothing. As you say Graham, the magazines and newspapers I consigned to the skip in the years past....sigh

Hi Mike. Any chance of posting them up onhere?

Hmmm, a) not quite what I thought I had., b) there are about 20 pages of "results" sheets from the meeting but most of the finals relate to the sidecar race. I will have to sort through and see what is suitable for putting up here 

I'll also ask the provider if he has any more sheets hidden away under the mountain of archive material.....
