Ouch. Another recovery drive for Kimi.

Queue the Kimi-fanatics hating on Lotus.

The challenge from all of Vettel's title rivals hasn't just faded, it has completely collapsed in a collective heap of scrap.

Could be just a broken floor though, doesn't necessarily have to be instant DSQ.

Could just be a broken support thingy on it and that's why it flexes.. No penalty yet.

Common sense says Lotus didn't do this intentionally. But expect this thread to burst into anti Lotus one nonetheless. A strong contender to win the race fades away. Now only Webber can challenge Vettel for victory.

Didnt Grosjean have exactly the same problem in Hungary but because they tested Kimi's car he got away with it so hopefully he just hit a curb and damaged the struts

Yeah. Lotus need the WCC money.

Ya Gro had the same problem a few races ago but it was later found out to be unintentional....hoping it is the same for Kimi.

Raikkonen was summoned to see the stewards at 8.15 local time (20 or so mins ago) after his Lotus failed front floor checks

A broken floor would have been spotted by Jo Bauer. I'm sure that's the first thing they check before reporting suspicion of an illegal component, especially in the case of flexibility.

CFRP failure often isn't that easy to spot. You can easily have parts that look absolutely fine from the outside and still have delaminated inside, affecting strength and stiffness.

Does Jo Bauer randomly pick cars to test these kind of things? Because the report states that only car number 07 and 11 were tested. Or do all cars have to go through these kind of tests?

With a million different parts on the cars they can't check all 20 for everything, so instead they do random spot checks for a few parts on a few cars.

Lotus brings Raikkonen a shorter wheelbase car and fails scrutineering, could not happen at a worse time. Conspiracy theorists are going to go ape s**t now.

That's just perfect   All kimi needed was a penalty that will throw him  at the end of the grid after all hard working

If found guilty of breaching Article 3.17.5 Kimi will start from back of the grid, or as Vettel did here last year, from the pit lane #ssn

Since the part has passed inspections before I doubt he'll get a penalty but if he does, will it be a complete DQ or just dropped places?

ever since he announced he was leaving, things have not gone well for him, whereas roman looks in good form, after being a liability for so long.

"floot deflection test"

And here I thought that they will take a look at cars going offtrack.

I believe it maybe the same thing, that during a lap he damaged it and it deflect more thanks to that

according t Alburaq, the different wheelbase setups have different tea tray support:

(top is short) so it seems unlikely that Grosjean's floor passing the test will cut it...

technically he can get disqualified (Vettel and Hamilton both got disqualified from quali last year in AD and Spain) but still be allowed to take part in the race [so long as they remedy the illegal part obviously]. He will just have to start last (or from the pitlane if Lotus chooses to break park ferme and change the car setup)

Yea, that's what I meant. DQ in qualifying, but allowed to start when fixed.

Anyone who thinks Lotus would sabotage Kimi is ridiculous. Yes, it would save them bonus money but cost th WCC money which is more important.

Maybe they'll ask him whether or not he felt a hit or something while driving over a curb?!

This needs to be a DQ. F1 teams have gone way too long without following the rulebook.

Bianca Leppert ‏@janci1612 Floor on Kimis car didn't manage the FIA check. Same like Grosjean in Hungary. Permane says damage caused of incident in corner 3 with 25g.
