Make your own F1 Gp calendar

F1 races held there were usually good (off the top of my head, 86, 87, 90 and 97 were superb), and the place is both a motorcycling mecca and consistently puts on the best MotoGP racing of the season. Mind you, older bike fans also rave about Jarama, which got very little love from F1. The layout is twisty but the corners flow together nicely.

Fair enough. As it's local to me and I saw my first live Grand Prix there in 1997 I'm biased towards it.

Okayama is by far my favourite Japanese circuit... that profile is awesome for sports and touring car racing. Also zero tarmac runoff unlike at Suzuka and Fuji and some others, and awesome scenery

 

Club racing circuit? What the ****? You suggest that championships like Super GT are club series... world championships have visited it in recent years too

Well yeah. It always strikes me a circuit that's punched above its weight on the world stage just because Mr. Tanaka managed to get Bernie to hold a couple of GPs there. I never said it wasn't a nice circuit, nor that a club racing circuit is a bad thing. I've enjoyed my visits to Mallory and Cadwell Parks in the UK for example.

Not exactly realistic if you want Brands Hatch It's too narrow and has limited scope for improvement, F1 has outgrown the place.

I would have said that before I played F1 2013. The modern cars don't feel out of place there at all.

5 - Spain - Circuit De Catalunya (without the chicane)

7 - France - Circuit De La Sarthe (Would be nice in current format but unlikely the FIA would allow it)

8 - Germany - Hockenheim/Nurburgring alternating 

9 - UK - Silverstone

10 - Czech Republic - Brno

11 - Italy - Monza

12 - Belgium - Spa

13 - Canada - Montreal 

14 - USA - Watkins Glen (Would require a lot of work to bring it up to FIA standards though)

15 - USA - COTA

16 - Japan - Suzuka

17 - Singapore - Marina Bay (Night race)

18 - Argentina - Potrero de los Funes Circuit (Would require work to bring up to standard)

19 - Brazil - Interlagos

Think that works quiet well, easy to break up into back to backs and allows for obvious gaps between differing regions so the race teams get to return home every 2-3 races, tops.

Pre-season testing, can also be called Asian F1 Championship. Teams can only use reserve/developement drivers. Races can be on thursdays or whatever.

A pretty balanced calendar which don't have the borefest in the desert at the end of the season.

Great thread! 

1. USA GP 1 - Circuit of the Americas - The best of the new tracks, plus think its important to start in the USA.

2. Mexican GP -  Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez - Great to get a race on this track again.

3. Brazilian GP - Interlagos - Brazil needs to be on the calendar.

4. Australian GP - Albert Park - Usually a good race.

5. Pacific GP - Fuji/Long Beach/Surfers Paradise/New Zealand (as above) - Just because it's a fantastic idea!

6. San Marino GP - Imola - Bring back the traditional start of the European season.

7. Spanish GP - Barcelona - Spain is a great motorsport country.

8. Monaco GP - Monte Carlo - The one they all want to win.

9. British GP - Silverstone - Traditional half-way point.

10. European GP - Anywhere, but a different country each year - Would let us revisit historic tracks (Brands, Zolder, Jerez, Paul Ricard, Imola) and possibly test their viability for permanent races.

11. German GP - Hockenheim - A great circuit.

12. Hungarian GP - Hungaroring - Now a firm part of F1 history.

13. Belgian GP - Spa - No explanation needed.

14. Italian GP - Monza - As above

15. Singapore GP - Singapore - Night race.

16. Arabian GP - Bahrain/Yas Marina - F1 needs to be in the Middle East but those races are dull so just the one.

17. Japanese GP - Suzuka - Always a great event.

18. South African GP - Kylami - Takes F1 to every continent, a real world championship.

19. USA GP 2 - Indianapolis - Gets F1 back to the USA's most famous circuit.

20. Canadian GP - Montreal - Usually a really good race anyway.  If the title goes to the wire, imagine how much better it could be.

Honorable mention to the Malaysian GP at Sepang.  If one race has to go I'd like this to replace it.
