Checking in. Which pit lane would you rather use?

Rain and tickets are expensive. Attendance has been a problem here for a couple of years. Hotels in particular are ripping people off.

I'm looking forward to this race! That track looks tiny.

(I'm quite lucky its been delayed as I was late home and would have missed the start otherwise).

Penske really seem fast this year.

Haven't seen much of Ambrose so far. Forgot he was still in Cup.

So a lot of this race will be down to how well they can get through traffic. Are the Pit stops timings more critical as well with the lap being so short?

I'm curious as to why there are different rules for the pit lane for yellow and green flag conditions.

Where are all our regular NASCAR forummers? Seems really quiet here right now.

A good rule of thumb is the shorter the track, the more mistakes on pit road will cost you. Five seconds lost in the pits is the same time whether the track is half a mile or 2 miles, but five seconds at a 2-mile track is not usually a big deal, whereas at Bristol it might be the difference between going 1 lap down (and having the chance to get back on the lead lap on the next caution) and going 2 laps down (which is a much bigger mountain to climb).

I think it's because if you had to go the long way around to pit (like under yellow) when it's green, you're going 4-5 laps down and you're totally screwed. You're still going 1-2 laps down if you need to make a green flag stop, but since you can just go down either the back or front pits you're not losing as much time.

The different rules for green vs. yellow stops catches guys out from time to time, Jeff Gordon a few years ago.

I take it they make them go all the way round under yellow to avoid having that spot between 3 and 4 where cars will be leaving and entering at the same time, which could be a big problem when you have a huge train of cars there at the same time.

That's my understanding. And this Joonyer fan's understanding too:

Some would say it's unfortunate that both Fox and ESPN seem determined every weekend to confirm the wider world's worst fears about NASCAR fans... I'd say lying on your bed eating greasy chicken wings, watching NASCAR and masturbating is a good time and you shouldn't knock it 'til you try it.

45-60 minutes judging by the radar but that's a very wide guess.

Thanks a ton.
Hmm, that would mean it might re-start about 10 p.m. Nice, I would like to watch a bit more racing before going to bed; and that means there is still some hope :)

Should be getting underway in 10 mins or so.

Those were some br00tal interviews. At least Carl Edwards brought the heat.

Showering together might be considered taking the bromance a step too far...

I know full well that it would be stupid to race on a superspeedway in the rain, but surely it wouldn't be unreasonable to do so on a <1 mile oval.

I think Nationwide tried it at Montreal.

I know a lot of it comes down to tyres: availability, testing, logistics. It wouldn't be worth it most of the time.

I dunno, it's hard to be sure. A bro is a guy you can tell your deepest, darkest secrets to, so if you can confess things to him that would get you locked up in the mental house for life, I don't see why showering together and playing a little game of grab-nuts is suddenly going too far.

Yea, went to see the F1 race and Nascar at a pub in town and one of my favorite hoodies got stolen. My rage has no end. My eyes are bleeding. Add to that the rain delay and Ricciardo's exclusion.
