The big gaps were the problem. Now, had Riccardo not had a slow pit stop, had Magnussen not had a collision, had Bottas not had a grid penalty, then...

Best Driver Hamilton & Hülkenberg
Honorable Mention: Kobayashi, Grosjean (for finishing in a Lotus)
Worst Driver Bianchi for crashing in to Maldonado; Massa for whining and ignoring team orders
Best Team Mercedes
Best Overtake Ricciardo on Alonso
Best Moment fight between Bottas & Massa
DRS + Tyres DRS didn't make much difference, tyres: not good: not enough degredation at all
And the race in one word... Sleepfest

Best overtake: can't remember any

To have a driver you follow have a dramaless win from start to finish in the best car was fantastic, I enjoyed every second as its been a very long time for me since that happened.
Vettel hunting Rosberg was good, the Hulk on a different strategy was interesting, Alonso clockwork as usual laying waste to the kimi myth is good fun to watch. Good job by Grosjean to actually bring that Lotus home.
Horrible shame for Daniel, he's been outstanding, absolutely no fault of his own that his team has cocked up both races for him so far. He should be holding his head high IMO.

Total bore, just as bad as all the races that Vettel won from pole by just controlling how fast he had to run.
Almost no racing at all as the drivers are driving to a delta because of fuel limits and are afraid to destroy the tires.

Nonsense, fuel was hardly a problem at all. Williams even started with less than 100 kgs.

So the teams are able to go full out without any thought of having to save fuel? I find that extremely unlikely.
If its not the actual fuel then its the fuel flow regulator, the end result is the same meaning drivers driving towards a delta.
Sure they are able to push at certain times during the race and at the end when they are sure that they have enough fuel but that's not the same as being able to go full out.

.
If anything the fuel flow regulator helps drivers to race without caring too much for delta times. In this way they have enough fuel left to go full speed at the end of the race

The race was awesome ... I was sat in front of the TV geeking out at the amazing energy recovery going on. I disliked the percentages in the fuel consumed so far stat. It should say kilos consumed so far, then they should add another column next to it, if those were real cars they would have consumed x kilos more. Then we can geek out more.
On a serious note, Mercedes have a mammoth advantage, way north of a second/lap over the rest of the field. Props to them for doing the work, championships are theirs to lose. Props to RB for being second best after all the internet "experts" were telling the world they 'd need the stewards to waive the 107% rule for RB to even make it to the races. Ferrari ... if they manage to produce a good F1 car again the world will implode, people got excited Ferrari managed to outrace FI for god's sake. Good on FI by the way, everyone was focused on Williams doing a comeback and McLaren being second best Merc powered team but FI have a tidy little car in their hands. Though I suspect once again it will be a boring little car, with FI's party trick being "let's see if we can run one less stop than everybody else"
If Renault/Ferrari manage to fix their PUs we might see some racing ... by Singapore, Monza/Spa though ... they will be hillarious.

Stop the press! Alonso fan club has arrived!
Alonso did a samurai miracle by overtaking Hülkenberg and +100hp overpowered Mercedes engine.
He attacked while he was in the decent window to do so. When Alonso changed to the options, his pace was for the rest of the race about 2s faster than Hülkenberg's.
Two great drivers against each other but Hulk was defenseless.
Here's a puzzle for you: 2 cars are racing each other. One has round tires (medium), the other has squares (hard, 18 laps at the time, longest stint in the race). Who wins?
There's a graph about the lap times in F1 Fanatic. Can't post it here due to copyright.

That's what I was trying to figure out. Could FI with HUL have competed with Ferrari with ALO if they had been on the same strategy? I believe it could have been possible as HUL was not that far back and they could have tried an undercut. However, as you say, they always seem to try to go either longer on stints or run one less stop. Small team mentality?

Australia wasn't thrilling and this was plain boring, I'm afraid this new F1 isn't grabbing me at all. I really hope something chances to spark some interest into this new format because at the moment its very dull.

Dull as dishwater. I can't remember it starting or finishing.
- FIA fuel stats > another (last?) part of strategy down the drain.
- LT > absolutely unusable on desktop.
- Sound > still crap, even if they turned op the mic a bit.
- Drivers
brakingcoasting when they hear a beep?! WTH is that? When I played GP2-3-4 I felt like cheating when you used the driver aids, but nowadays they have driver aids not even available in games. In 2004 a dominant race had screaming V10s, drivers pushing and generally very fast, often good looking cars. Fast forward 10 years and we have some kind of Prius challenge without emotion.
Totally agree and am not happy about it at all

Best Driver Massa for refusing to obey TOs. Not that I thought HUL did a bad job or that it is his responsability, but wouldn't they have had a better chance to be in front of Alonso if they had tried the same strategy as him but tried an undercut? After all, he was never that far behind. Of course, if they were set on a fewer stop strategy from the beginning there's nothing they could have done unless they decided to change strategy on the go.Worst Driver Sadly, they are all losers with this F1. I can't help but think how overhyped the end of race celebrationsare in relation to what they have actually achieved. I think their names should be changed from racing drivers to car managers.Best Team None as they are all partly to blame for this current state of F1.Worst Team Williams. "We were going to let Felipe through again if he couldn't pass Button". What is this, a choreography??!! If you can't pass the driver in front of you, you can't pass the one in front of him. Let them race you corporate race-killers.Best Overtake Should this really be a category to judge a race these days? VET got close to ROS, couldn't pass, MAS got close to BUT, couldn't pass. People having to chose ALO's "pass" on HUL as the best WTF?Best Moment Getting fuel data! How exciting this info. made the race! It's as if we could see little fuel drops being used by the engines as the laps went by, biting our nails every lap to see if someone would run out! I hope soon they will project a slow-mo animation of the pistons moving too.DRS + Tyres As before, gimmicks to try to save an increasingly poor show.
And the race in a sentence When commentators spend most of the race critiquing what's wrong with F1 and trying to find ways to revive it, you know something's gone very, very wrong.
I wasn't going to complain, but can't argue with much of this. And I am a technical and sporting rather than driver fan...

I thought Vettel had a pretty ordinary race by his standards and was outshone by his team mate at the start I thought. My driver of the race was Hulkenburg even though I am a Hamilton fan. I thought the Mercedes advantage was massive and Lewis didn't seem to be tested at all during the race. The only challenger or possible challenger was Rosberg and Lewis out performed him this weekend IMO. Hulkenberg was dicey and seemed to thoroughly deserve his finishing position and I am still at a loss as to why he wasn't snapped up by a top team. I did hear his size was the reason McLaren didn't sign him but that could just be a rumour.

Almost the worst race I've seen - dragged on forever and not much happened. Cars are slow, they sound like rubbish, the field spread out early - goodnight.
Only duller race was maybe the Spanish Gp in 1999 - least that had Villeneuve annoying MS in the early stages.

I've tried not to miss any races since the early 80's and always look forward to the start of the new season. I always want to and try to like it, defending the sport to those who say it's boring.
Finally there is no defence.
When Lewis arrived in 2007 he brought some excitement into the sport with some great racing. Yesterday he led the event efficiently, but there was no race.
The whole penalty thing has become absurd. Team orders suck.
Fuel gauges on screen now. Why not a graph showing how they are reducing the melting of the polar ice cap.
The lack of loudness of the engines I could live with if only the sound of them was ok and not such a monotonous dirge. I actually turned the sound down.

Worst race in a long long time. Every one just seemed to be in their own race. The start was ok but after that there were very few battles up and down the field. I thought there could have been some excitement between Ricciardo and Alonso but then the pit stop happened.

I ''d give it a 2
As bad as the worse 2009-2013 races
Worse cause the lift and coast was evident, whereas before the you can't push the Pirellis wasn't so much in your face ... yeah drivers complained about the fragile Pirellis, same drivers get off the throttle 300m before the corner, let drag decelerate the car, coast through the corner off throttle then gun it. Edge of your seat stuff.
Best moment of the race (and the epitome of all that is wrong in F1) Rosberg's RE requesting a 5 second gap to Vettel. The problem isn't the gap itself, the problem is that everything is so tightly managed by engineers it has ceased being a sport anymore
I really didn't see the point in the fuel consumption data being shown, did I care that for example the Williamses were using less fuel than the McLaren they couldn't overtake? Not really

5/10, less eventful than Australia. Nice to see Magnussen hold his own with a badly damaged front wing. Kill downforce
Overall, the fuel strategy seemed less varied, and the teams finished in similar positions, compared to the Australian results. Mediocre race on a mediocre Tikedrome circuit. No different than the second half of the V8 era

For the first time since 2002 (besides refueling ban) I feel positive. Sure, it was not one of those races that will go to history but looking back I feel it was above average.
