Thanks for all the video's. It's amazing what people get away with in supposedly respectable classes. The GP2 shenanigans of the Monaco start and this Cecotto character are especially ridiculous.

I seem to recall Ralf Schumacher doing it quite often, for some reason. Usually at Monaco, for obvious reasons.

It's extremely easy to fault him for trying!  The moron should have been black-flagged after the second incident let alone allowing him to continue circulating as a danger to both himself and the other competitors.

I see your point, but isn't that's the race director's call, instead of Vadim Kogay's?

It would have been better for him to be more aware of his limitations, though. That's for sure.

On the subject of GP2 though, how about Glock and Zuber off the line in Magny Cours 2007? 

 

 

Not to mention this, although to be fair there's probably nothing the majority of those drivers could have done to avoid that.

Did Cecotto get a penalty for that? Geez. And his father was such a nice chap...

He did. He was disqualified from the qualification. Bird was penalized too, for not moving over too quickly (3 grid places).  

Better than most people on this forum would do..

If I was rich enough to afford funding my own racing, I would hire some professional drivers to coach me and I would make sure I wont become an example of embarrassing incompetence among racing fans.

If this would not help, I would be reasonable enough to either quit, or slow down and race in a way that doesn't cause problems for other drivers

There was a funny old video when some F1 driver started on gravel (or other loose surface) and was rather hopeless. The co driver made fun of him. I can't find it now, unfortunately.

Not according to the commentary - and AFAIK Maldonado was not in a yellow car when Proetto was competing. Do you know where and when this happened?

2005 FR3.5 qualifying at Zolder. Alx Danielsson (the car on the left) couldn't avoid Colin Fleming's car (in the middle of the track) and Stefano Proetto (Leeroy Jenkins) then managed to hit both. Maldonado was Danielsson's team mate at that time and only switched to Draco Racing (the yellow car) in the following season.

The formula 3 accident was a good example of rather stupid driver error. Though nothing beats a stolen pace car being chased by police on an oval

I'm afraid I don't, my information for that came from this thread. If I'm wrong I'll take back what I said and agree that Maldonado was very lucky to keep his license, particularly in light of his red flag crash at Monaco as well.
