OK there is a thing in MN about Colin McRae being one of Britain's best motorsport drivers, a fairly interesting choice for a start, but then MN has always been the backbone of rally coverage for many years, especially when Colin was at the height of his powers.
Interesting that some folk did not feature higher.
Especially when you consider the bloke who finished second, a guy called Stuart Smith, who is Brisca F1 stock cars greatest driver.
So, he beats Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, John Surtees, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Roger Clark etc etc.
Now, call me doubtful or cynical, but if this vote came from journalists and reporters of all UK motorsport, I doubt very much a stock car driver, though being a fan of this particular sport I can vouch for their skill and also that a guy like Stuart could turn his hand to pretty much anything and be successful, would be at the top of peoples lists!
I am thinking a few fans might have had more than a few votes! But I may be wrong, anyone know how the votes were cast?
As, with the greatest will in the world, even for Colin to be ahead of Clark, Moss, Mansell is amazing, but understandable. But Smithy second? That takes some doing!
