Have a question re: GTP5. In controler menu there is variety of Logitech wheels but no G25 that I use. Which I should I choose? Also is there a way to change assignments to use clutch pedal for brakes. I have big feet and I use it that way with my PC sims, as brake pedal is difficult for me to access.
I also noticed strange thing. The quality of the graphics during replay is way better than in actual game (I use in car camera). When in play there seems to be some flickering on white lines on tarmac and in genarl display quality is just worse than in replay.
What do I do wrong?

1080i or 1080p? The flickering seems more obvious with interlaced displays in my experience. I agree it slightly annoying though.

The only downside I have noticed with this game, are the other players online. I have yet to finish the A Class, so I am unable to go hit the room that have the decent players in them. Seems like there are a lot of folks out there that think driving fast is purely about what car you choose. Nor do people take things like braking points, turn in points, and exit points seriously.
Here are the things I really like:
1) Racing line with the speed you should be in @ the apex.
2) cars have good feel, and sounds. I own a MINI Cooper S, and the modelling on that is 1st rate.
3) Being able to drive the Nissan GT-R
4) Having the game in HD
5) using analog triggers (L2 & R2) as throttle/brake
6) Throttle steering (very good with the GT-R)
7) Graphics
But the most important reason this game is awesome:
My girlfriend is now getting into racing, and having this game is helping to ignite the racing spark in her. She enjoys wathcing me race it, and is starting to get into it herself. It has been giving her some instruction on racing lines, being smooth, etc. Which will all pay massive dividends when she attends her 1st track day, in her own MINI, in a month.
There are some negatives, but the positives outweigh them, and I think it's a bit nit-picky to being them up.
Nw if they would just add Willow Springs, the big track, then this game would be PERFECT.

Sorry... just to check... are you driving your real MINI Cooper S with L2/R2 triggers ;)

I use the left stick for steering and the right stick for throttle / brakes. I'm the only on I know who uses this set up and it's only from using a sticks transimtter from when I raced radio controlled cars that I can use it.

Does anyone know how good the game physics are? For example, do they factor in things such as tyre temps or if you run off the road you will be less grippy for a few corners? Or is it a myth that games have been able to do that?

There are games that do that, definitely. Tyre temperature is very noticeable in Grand Prix Legends, for example. Not sure if Gran Turismo does anything like that, though.

They feel better to use than the sticks but the sticks seem to have a greater degree of variation and thus make throttle and brake control easier... or am i just stuck in my ways?

To all of you who say GT is unrealistic.. Did you ever try using the Economy tires and a steeringwheel without any driving aid? Not saying it's perfect but games will never be.. perfect ;)
EDIT: I see a lot of talk about the controller.. invest in a steeringwheel, it's definatly worth it and they're not even expensive. Controllers and keyboards for driving games are the devil. Trust me.

I can't wait to get into the intermediate level online races, the beginners are a real headache. Can't pass someone without getting slammed into the wall.
