Adieu Jean Todt

Best of luck in what ever your other interests are Jean.

You have led Ferrari through a period more dominant than ever before in this sport, you had the plans mapped out for Peugeot, yet they did not dare take the risk, you were 'lucky' that you got Schumacher, Byrne, Brawn, but they were 'lucky' as well that you ran the ship.

The Ferrari Superteam which the top have now retired from, was as good a strong a team as we have ever seen in the sport, and possibly better than what we will see for many years to come.

Jean Todt was a success at everything he ever did in the sport, he was as true a racer as Frank Williams, Patrick Head and Ron Dennis, if he decide to gun for the FIA President position, then the FIA will be in very capable hands.

Can't say I am a fan of Todt, but nevertheless thanks are in order for the success he brought to Ferrari. Could have done without the Austria episodes though.

And why is that so many equal FiA with F1 only? With the many activities going on within FiA, F1 is one (albeit lucrative) part of its operations. So an appropriate replacement for Mosley (doubt that ever is going to happen in his lifetime, except for a revolution ) must not necessarily come out of F1.

And maybe if they rename FiA to MMC (Max Mosleys company) people suddenly might make jokes about MM being short for McLaren/Mercedes .

Exactly. And even before that, he was saying that he (and Brawn and Byrne) were preparing a successor. Which at Todt's age, any reasonable CEO would be doing. Ron Dennis is doing it too, Frank Williams is doing it. Had Todt not being doing it, he hardly would be a part on the board of directors now.

Todt have done Rally and Sportscars before F1, he is more than F1 so that he was successful at F1 as well should not count against him, were he to stand for FIA President.

Perhaps some of the shock of him leaving is reminding ourselfs we've gotten older


He bleeded Ferrari and alot of hardowork helped produce results that will go down in history as important chapters in f1 and ferrari.

Him and Schumacher were like Marcus Erilius and General Maximus, professional and friendship bond menaced their rivals once they were up and running.

Some people say Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher, there's there Jean Todt and Michael Schumacher, that was one hell of a super team. It is the natural order of things they must pass, but on mortality note, if you live long enough you'll eventually see everything, including the crap f1 rules of today.

I cannot explain how much i appreciate all the work that Jean has done for Ferrari, he has etched his name into history ad given many people great joy as the result of his work, i wish there was a way to thank him personally.

He is still in the Ferrari Family.

Maybe you'll meet him one day at some fuction or place, I certainly would like to thank him as well.

Schumi still testing now and again and Todt on the board, it's like Monza Carrot Cake desert after the Ferrari era Super Team disbanded.

Ask him to publicly give his opinion on the McLaren spying affair because I haven't heard him comment on it enough.

Despite having to deal with the fact that he is unattractive, small and quite possibly French, and just has the air of someone I wouldn't entirely trust about him, he has undoubtedly assisted Ferrari in achieving many great things in recent years, with the obvious example of him putting together the Ferrari "Dream Team" and the remarkable successes they achieved.

Glad to see Jean is not entirely leaving Ferrari, and am confident the F1 side of things particularly are in far better shape now then when he joined.

Respect his success, but despise the sheer tedium he inflicted on F1 for so many years by allowing MS a team mate who wasn't allowed to race him. (summary: Austria 2002 - dominant "win" but sooooooooo boring)

I want to be in the room when he tell us all, what he really thinks about Mac. I think that moment could be quite entertaining.

One more dominant personality leaves the F1 world. He has my respect and admiration for the way he carried Ferrari to great heights. Never an agreeable man (to many outside Ferrari) but a giant nevertheless. Adieu JT.

Couldn't of been said better. Jean is one of the most successful team bosses ever and should always be admired for it.

Hopefully his new position allows him to keep an eye on the Gestione Sportiva in case his experience is ever required.

I like this initiative of yours Chiara, Jean Todt deserves a big thank you from Tifosi, Ferrari fans and F1 fans in general.
He has done great things for Ferrari and F1 and I hope he fares well in life.

I would like him to return as FIA president if he desires so.

JT would never leave if he wouldn't think that the people that took over were good enough for the job.

Got a reply back this morning, and it was a close thing because I nearly deleted it by mistake! I didn't recognise the name of his secretary Oh how I wish I had a secretary to type my emails for me - the luxury!

Ahh just a standard reply rather than a personal one then.
