Most of us know about this (aka the event that planted the seed of racing NASCAR in Juan Pablo's head):

You can't buy those kinds of experiences. WOW.

Thanks for the links - first time I had seen footage of the Gordon and Montoya crossover test.

Looking at it, Jeff seemed to be doing a pretty decent job. Sir Frank was quite impressed, wasn't he? I seem to remember him saying that if Gordon put his mind to it he could have been successful in Formula One.

Oh no problem--seeing as I just stumbled upon them on youtube, I figured they were common knowledge.

Glad to be of assistance.

But did you see Gordon's reaction to the ridealong with Gronholm? He hasn't lost his enthusiasm!

Here is a longer video of just JPM doing all his laps in the stock car, I believe:

Cheers for that.

Made me realise how much better the V10s sounded than the current V8s in F1, then the NASCAR V8 sounded better than either of them!

I have the whole event on my computer. Jeff looked pretty good I have to say.

Years ago JG was on his path to American OW racing and who knows, eventually to F1...but switched to NASCAR. I cannot remember the reasons things went that way. Contract issues or something? Later on there was some discussion about Jeff and F1 - in fact, BAR folks talked to him IIRC in 1999. Unfortunately all they offered was 2 years of ChampCars (same sponsor) and possibility of F1 test later on. No guarantees, so that was that.

One of my first reactions was also, wow, that F1 sounds really cool!
