Still pretty stupid to put them in a thread title. People don't get races till later, it's reasonable to expect people to use a title like "Is the Long Beach winner the 2008 Champ car title winner?". Putting the spoiler in the title does nothing EXCEPT piss people off.
Now if he clicked on said thread and was spoiled it'd be his own damn fault.
But we've had this debate before and the forum management told us all to **** off so there ya go.
The answer to the question btw is "no, there wasn't a CCWS this year."

I have common sense. I'm also actually pretty sure my IQ is much larger than yours. Now if someone writes a title "Danica finally does it", then I can understand that. But this...

Yes, sadly I still have some faith in common courtesy.
This is a forum for MULTIPLE sports. You should be able to come in to comment on the result of an F1 race without having every other event spoilt for you even if you don't click on a thread about the series. There is not a single benefit to this thread having Will's name in the title. Not one.
But like I say, we had this debate, the admins told us to **** off, end of story.

We'll see a lot more coming from him for the remainder of the IRL season I expect.

It'd be appreciated Karl. Only in thread titles of course. You click on "IRL Motegi" you really do deserve it. But you should be able to browse the thread titles without having random other events spoiled.
Or alternately we could get Dudley to update us on where he's up to with his viewing so that the entire bulletin board can bend to his will and we don't offend him delicate sensibilities. Have you could up on the 2000 season yet?
Yes this happened last time, idiots trolled rather than exercise common courtesy at no cost to themselves.

A rule based on nothing. Not everyone lives in the UK or US. If you don't get coverage (or even reruns or delayed races) in a certain country then the best bet is to wait for a torrent. Those usually appear within 8-12 hours after the race. Then you have to download it (10-24 hours) and then watch it. If there is two races that weekend then add another 10-24 hours + first available time to watch. For example, I managed to see the IRL race on Monday evening and the CART race on Tuesday evening. So that's my side of things.
I still haven't heard a valid argument for putting a spoiler in a thread title!

Will Power the 2008 Champ Car title winner?
It might not even have been a spoiler. It could have been a question asking what will power the 2008 Champ Car title winner? The answer would be Cosworth.

This forum would be pretty silent if everyone had to give a few days grace period for all the numb ****s before starting threads.
Or what's the alternative, no titles for any of the threads?
Or how about "Did you see the thing that driver did in that unspecified series today?".
Yes, that would be a great idea.

No kidding. If you don't want the races results to be spoiled, don't go reading a motorosports forum! Instead of requiring everyone else to coddle to your wishes, why not do the only thing that will *guarantee* a spoiler-free viewing and not go on the internet for an afternoon??

I was yes, it's very early/late (delete least believable)
Sorry.
I wonder how long Dudley would have us wait, as this race is unlikely to ever be shown in Europe.
It would be largely sensible to never have a race result in a thread title (note at no point am I saying it can't be discussed) but at least a week would be perfectly sensible if you must stick a time on it.
Because we're here to talk about racing, not to protect people who may not have seen the event yet. If you're going to go to all that trouble to torrent a Champ Car race, and avoid the autosport frontpage and other sites, you can stay off the BB for a while too.
Once again, no-one is saying it can't be discussed. They're just asking for basic courtesy in being given a chance to discuss other series without having one they're waiting for ruined to absolutely no benefit for anyone.

Jesus!
No-one is saying don't discuss it!
No-one is saying don't start threads!
But a thread called "2008 Long Beach GP result" serves EXACTLY the same purpose as "Will Power wins Long Beach" except that people who've only seen the F1 can discuss the F1 in another thread without having Long Beach forcibly spoiled.
It would make the forum BUSIER not quieter.

I have just finished watching the 2007 Mexico City Champcar race. The series has undergone some difficult times of late, but it seems to be on the way up.

Dude, I hear what you're saying but it's pretty obvious what is going to be discussed on a motorsport forum.
I got stung once many years ago while in an F1 chat room chatting whilst waiting for Eurosport's replay of the CART race that had taken place a couple of hours beforehand. Somebody waded straight in with something along the lines of "Man, Paul Tracey had a hell of a race to get that win today".
I learnt my lesson then and I wouldn't even be tempted to use the internet if I was avoiding a result.
Immediately after every F1 race this forum is full of new threads about various events that occured during the race. It's simply illogical and wholely unreasonable to title the threads for example "Today's F1 race: Discussion thread # 1", "Today's F1 race: Discussion thread # 2" and so on.

Agreed.
Im sure we have all had moments where a result has been spoiled. I had a ******** friend send me a txt msg with who won motegi and i hadnt had a chance to watch it yet. Oh well, **** happens and it was such a big story anyway that i wouldnt have been able to even turn on the TV without finding out very soon.
The ONLY way to avoid a result is to stay off the website. You cannot expect a site which has such high user contribution (bb) to be able to be sensored to a level that Dudley is requesting.

Do you seriously suspend reality and pretend that what you are viewing is live?
Also the title is a QUESTION not a Statement that you assumed he won a race from it is your own conclusion completely, I guess you opened the thread to have a look which entirely your fault.
If your that sensitive to it, why even have the internet?

I haven't opened the Nascar thread because I haven't seen Mexico, watching it now in fact.
And why would I not treat it as live? I know no more than if it were thanks to the Nascar people being considerate with their topic titles.

If you come here under the pretence of not wanting spoilers - you're an idiot.
On the flip side -how long should we wait? Should we not mention ANY motorsport for a period of 24 hours without the word 'spoiler'. Maybe 48 hours? A week? I've not seen the 1991 Brazillian Grand Prix yet - even help the person who spoils it for me!
If you don't want to find out about the results of a motor sport event ...
DON'T VISIT A FRICKIN MOTORSPORT FORUM.

Anyhow it's a shame Will Power wasn't good enough to be an F1 driver, those dreadfully inconsistent drives with way too uncommon bit of speed in F3 and RWS put paid to that.

Indeed, and if I'd said anything remotely like what you just claimed I did rather than putting forward a plan that would, to no detriment to anyone, dramatically increase the discussion of any given race, you'd have a point.

The title would've spoiled it for me, if I didn't browse to grandprix.com earlier as a kinda routine thing - they had Will Powers name right at the start of the main page. Î should've known better than visiting a motorsport news website, though.
