With those two separate races out of the way, we're moving straight on to Kansas Speedway this weekend for a renewed unified effort and an oval race. Remember, this will be the last race before the Month of May starts, culminating in the Indy500.

With points having been allocated to both races last weekend, current top 10 standings are as follows:

1. Helio Castroneves 112
2. Scott Dixon 100
3. Danica Patrick 98
4. Tony Kanaan 89
5. Will Power 87
6. Dan Wheldon 85
7. Enrique Bernoldi 74
8. Oriol Servia 74
9. Graham Rahal 70
10. Ed Carpenter 70

Some Kansas Speedway statistics:
Configuration: 1.5 mile tri-oval
Banking of turns: 15 degrees
Race distance 300 miles
2007 winner: Dan Wheldon/Target Chip Ganassi
Fastest race lap 2007: 212.728 (Dan Wheldon)

Also, Tomas Scheckter is back racing for the Luczo Dragon Racing team which is running three races this year including Indy. The team is co-owned by Jay Penske (son of Roger) who has put together an Indy500 effort in the past. And...hopefully Pacific Coast Motorsports will be able to put an IndyCar effort in later this year, most prob starting with the Indy500 too.

Schedule:
Fri: autograph session all drivers 6pm-7pm
Sat: first practice 8.45-10.15; second practice 11.30-12.30pm, qualifying 2.10pm-3.35pm
Sun: race 4pm, all times local.

Coverage:
USA: ESPN2 from 5pm E.T.
UK: Sky Sports 2 from 11pm, delayed (as Nascar/Talladega will be shown live)
Live streaming: fingers crossed :drunk:

Let's hope the ex-CC boys can make some more progress and catch up with the oval regulars this weekend. Oh and will Danica do the double?

PS EDIT: Pacific Coast Motorsport just announced, as expected, they will be on the IndyCar grid for the rest of the year from the Indy500 on, with a one-car effort driven by Mario Dominguez:

Hmmm. Well, he has won two races for IRL: Texas and Michigan, both in 2005 which was the last year he was in an IRL car. Has been racing GrandAm cars since.

I'd like to see Dan Wheldon get a win before the Indy 500, might make it a little easier for him mentally. However I think Scott Dixon might take this one.

Scheckter? He was in the IRL with Vision the past two years.

Uh...what? He's driven (well) for Vision the last two years.

Tomas Scheckter is the definition of achieving the least with the most. Who could've thought six years ago that the guy would manage to get just two wins in his career? What a waste of talent.

The guy looked like a star in the making in 2002. You would think that as soon as he would stop crashing (which was very often), he'd be dominating the races. He certainly had the equipment to do so most of the time in his first four years in IRL. However, his career has not gone anywhere; he never found the consistency, he's not even that fast anymore, and now he's reduced to driving for part-time teams.

That guy drove for Panther in the IRL for a while until 2006 when he moved to ALMS rides on and off, with a little mix of A1GP.

I was going to mention JPM as the prototype of achieving little with a lot, but then I thought that someone who has won so much in so different disciplines just cannot qualify, even if his F1 career was disappointing.

She's starring in the movie screen version of Speed Racer which will be released in cinemas May 9:

I guess it's more publicity for IndyCar to the casual fan.

Oh and she's back racing this weekend at Kansas.

That sucks...but money talks. Too bad for Perrera, though- he's a really good guy and a great driver.

Jaime has done close to nothing the last couple years for AGR in IPS. What a waste, imo.

Well, when Pennzoil and Chevrolet walked out of Panther, that was just the beginning of the end for Sheckter's career. Really sucks. I always likd the guy and I'm a fan of his, and I knew when he'd stop crashing, he'd be great and dominate. He finally did, but too bad that it was too little too late. He made
that #4 Pennzoil car his as much as Hornish did in his early years.

Everyone buys their ride at Conquest. Always have, always will. Bachelart is somewhat unique in racing though that if you don't pay you don't play. No exceptions. You're late, you're out. I kind of admire it in a way; unlike a lot of guys who alllow themselves to be screwed by drivers or late paying sponsors.

I know, that's reality and that's how it works and fair enough. In an ideal world though - you know with sunshine and fluffy clouds in the sky and people hugging each other - the team would take care of the major sponsorship and the driver would contribute with his talent. But that's just fantasy.

It's very frustrating for the team too as it's not a very efficient way of getting the most out of a partnership. A new driver, coming in mid-season, will always need to get up to speed, get used to the car, the team, the engineers, etc.

And it's a large part of the reason there still IS a Conquest.

To call what Milka does "racing" is a bit of a stretch isn't it? "Moving Chicane" is a better description.

She must be an excellent actress to play:

A Russian (she's from Venezuela)
Race Car Driver (I covered that one above)
Very Eccentric (I have no idea. Never heard a word from her. She looks like she's had a few too many "procedures" done, though.)
and Aggressive (only if you consider somebody with no talent driving 200mph as "aggressive")

Fraid so, see post 1. It's Sun by the way

It will be delayed because Sky are showing the Nascar/Talladega race live. Kansas will be shown straight after in what Sky are billing 'The Great American Racing Night!!!' or some such.

But as Scott Dixon told the pit reporter: qualifying doesn't mean a lot at Kansas, you can start last and still work your way up the field and win.

If you knew HOW to read ones comments, you would understand that it has never been ''us vs. them'' ... just the pursuit of a level playing field.

Homestead, I believe the best the T-Teams could do was 12th, sooooo with a little more time with the Dallara, one would assume a little improvement ... that is all. It is not conspiracy to have a Point Of View.

Would you want me to hang around here with NO POV at all, other than the corporate POV .... just like you? Or would you want something to carp about, like someone with a ChampCar Inner Circle (CCIC) POV - in other words, if you have NOTHING to say ... don't say it.

What ... are you dating Tony George?

Speaking of sponsors, where are the decals? We are seeing a little too much paint and not enough plastic! Heck, we are loosing good drivers over the lack of sponsors.

Yeah, ahead of most of AGR but behind Roth. Four lap qualifying is certainly entertaining!

Given how many teammates are starting near each other, qualifying set-up appears key. Might not mean much in the race. It's worth noting that it was relatively cool today at qualifying and the projected high for tomorrow, after a 30% chance of morning showers, is only 60 degrees.

Was there some off-season oval work? Evidently Homestead was not an anomaly.

In the political blogosphere here in the States I believe that the rule of thumb is that the first writer to compare his opponents to the Nazis loses, face if nothing else for lowering the rhetorical stakes. Maybe we should invoke a similar rule for comparisons to Tony George.
