Where was the Japanese sponsor support for Super Aguri?

Its reported that SA and Sato have a huge following in Japan - so how come only one Japanese company had sponsorship with the team? Surely the other Japanese companies could have come out and supported the little team? Why didn't they?

They had too much money to find. If it was just a case of the funds to run the team, they could probably have found it but with Honda demanding the budget of a midfield team to be repaid instantly they had nowhere to go.

Samantha Kings is a Japanese Sponcer who remained till the end. They sell cosmetics in Japan, obvioulsy have little presence outside JP.

Actually they sell designer handbags. As used by the likes of the Hilton sisters, Victoria beckham etc. They have a store in New York.

I guess the days of the likes of Sony,Sanyo,Toshiba,Roland, etc having shedloads of ¥en to splash around are gone-No doubt thanks to the Chinese.

The more interesting question is where were the Japanese sponsors the previous years. SA has been struggling all their existence for decent funding.

Maybe Sato and Aguri weren't as popular as we in the West imagined?

Electronics giants such as sony, do not need formula one to sell their goods. A Japanese Mobile phone operator was one possibility but this did not materialise as they do not operate outside Japan. There are little financial institutions who operate outside Japan currently and Japanese market is more oriented in the in-land marketing.

they were sponsored by Honda, and got the best sponsorship deal in the paddock

Canon
NTT
Nikon

And there are many more smaller companies which might wish to increase recognition around the world. Some of those mentioned could even get away with mentioning specific product lines and brands on the cars. I quite like the idea of a car with Sonic the Hedgehog on the engine cover :lol:
