You are correct of course, and I am wrong.
I am In no way a Mac fan, just found you post a bit iffy.
SA beat Mac because of spanky Maxxy, not on the track mate.
I didn't wan't to be rude, but YES I came across a bit wrongy with my choice of lingo.

I believe this what somewhat coordinated by Brawn, spending 10 million could improve r and d a lot.

Well done to the team 4 points and what a shame they lost out due to those who didn't pay. They also couldn't secure a sponsor, which was a problem.

Poor old Anthony Davidson... sounds bummed out:

‘I’m obviously very disappointed that the team was unable to see out the 2008 season and beyond, and gutted not just for myself but for all of the guys at the factory who have worked so hard. It showed their great dedication and loyalty to keep fighting given the uncertainty over the future.

I think for me personally the first four races were very positive and I continued to build on what I learnt from my rookie season last year. After several years as a test driver in F1 I’m glad that I had the chance to show that I can race and to prove my speed, and I’m grateful to the team and Honda for the opportunity. Although it's a difficult time of the year to find an alternative option as the season is well underway, I’m glad that I took the opportunity to compete again this year and strongly believe that I have unfinished business in Formula One’.

Thanx Super Aguri for everything they have shown to us till this day. They were the truely sportive racing teams that current Formula One have had.

And thanx for this link to Canada the last year, even though I am a Alonso Fan the move was a breath taking one from Sato and together with this handsome racing behavior of Fernando the scene is something that we can remember.

Great pitty as to how a comment from Honda F1 CWO can terminate the life of Super Aguri.

Super Aguri withdraw from Formula One...
Super Aguri have withdrawn from the Formula One world championship with immediate effect, the team announced on Wednesday.

Saddens me.. More so for the Guys and Girls in the team that now face a bleak future...
i'm sure (and i hope) that a lot of them can be absorbed into other motorracing jobs,motor racing runs through the veins of these people and they too will be devistated.

On a personal note i hope that Richard Connell can find something very soon, Good luck mate.. see ya soon

F1 won't be the same without them, they were the underdogs of the underdogs. Through their poverty, and their frankenstein-esque cars (like their use of a modified Arrows chassis when they started), there was always a amicable charm about them. Always kept their head up, and never bitched or complained half as much as teams that had it ten times better then them.

A few years ago, the USGP used to hold a 'pit walkabout' the thursday before the race which I attended. Where throngs of fans could walk around the pit, get autographs, look at the cars, etc. I remember, Takuma Sato was the only driver who stuck around and signed photographs, took pictures, and shook hands with every single fan that wanted; well after all the other drivers left. While I'm personally not his biggest fan, he will be sorely missed, and certainly deserves a seat then any other Japanese driver.

Real sad to see them go, although they were doomed the moment the customer cars were a no-go; it was simply a matter of time. Victims of circumstance and politics.

They went pretty much the way they came, amidst a frenzy of uncertainty (remember the mad rush to get the team ready); but in between there is a nice story and one hell of a likeable team. I hope this isn't the end of the F1 road for Aguri Suzuki, Taku, Ant and the members of the team. They put up one heck of a fight.

Rationally, I can't blame Honda for pulling the plug and focusing resources; still I can't help holding a grudge towards them. I'm only a fan, I can afford it. For Nick Fry I have nothing but animosity.

Nick Fry, eat my (Super Aguri) shirt.

No the current grid strenght is acceptable, if anything F1 needs more manufacturer participation. Hyundai need to be suckered into 'investing' their share of 300 million, and perhaps -on the premise of the first all Chinese team and a platfrom to show their madskills- one of the Chinese majors could be lured too. :up:

"Suckering" a multi-national corporation into throwing away millions on racing is not what F1 needs

If you want to watch a well funded manufacturer lose piles of money and achieve virtually nothing you don't need Hyundai or the Chinese... you can just watch Honda or Toyota. We need more racing teams and fewer marketing teams. At least Aguri accomplished more with less and had a racing heart.

Yeah, SS United that well known brand with products I buy regularly... I don't think they even exist any more and their website disappeared off the face of the Earth last year: http://www.ssunited-group.com/

Makes me wonder how a company of such dubious nature are able to (supposedly) sponsor a F1 team in the first place?

Because F1 teams are often desperate and/or stupid. Viz t-minus, Broker magazine, that Minardi one, the whole Mastercard Lola deal...

Looks to me like the whole company was a scam. It is supposed to be a Hong Kong based oil and gas company, yet I checked the Hong Kong companies register, and no such company is registered. The only information regarding them on the internet is to do with their Super Aguri connection. Not sure how the percieved Super Aguri connection was part of their scam but it would appear to me that it was probably to give them credibility when applying for loans or products before scarpering. That is my hunch anyway.

I think you're right. About the same thing happened with Christijan Albers ' sponsor that did not pay, remember? That was also a Shanghai based sponsor, and behind it was a Dutch 'businessman', Joep van de Nieuwenhuizen, who has been followed by the Dutch state and prosecutors for a very long time, for all kinds of shady businessdeals. He is being prosecuted as we speak.
Other example: Harrie Muermans, the man who brought Robert Doornbos into Formula 1, has been arrested for white collar-crimes and moneylaundering. Just as Van der Berg, the man who sponsored several tennisplayers like Martin Verkerk. Sponsorship is a very, very shady business.

My take on sponsorship and F1: If you're in it, and you are not winning Grand Prixs and Wordtitles every two years, you lose money, even if you have big sponsors. So F1 teams behind Ferrari (basically!) accept big loses in money for their pr-purposes (Renault, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Super Aguri). Or they are genuine race-fanatics, who will have to accept money from suspect sources, unknowingly perhaps, but still. It is as simple as that.
