Don't post rumours if you don't have a source? Well, he didn't call me personally and I did not get a written statement either but a source that I really can't quote told me that the FIA is already preparing a successor for Max and that the preferred candidate is Michael Schumacher. Hoax....? Put my head on the chopping block early july if this rumour is not supported by some evedence from official sources by than....

Bartus(who seeks support from these killed messengers from the past)

Would be just as bad as having Todt in charge.

Interesting. A thread worth bookmarking for the future.

Not a terrible option, but I don't know that I can see MS wanting to do it.

I heard that rumour too. It is to be a close run off between the candidates, Schumacher, Stirling Moss, Fangio and Elvis Presley.

Alan Gow's name crops up a lot in relation to this, too.

Have my doubts I must say, but should it be officially denied soon then I'll believe it - actually I'll believe both the rumour, and that the FIA monitor this BB! :)

Don't you think his footballing responsibilities might get in the way?

well at least he speaks proper German :)

jokes aside...I cannot imagine Michael sitting in an office the whole day, running from meeting to meeting, reading reports, signing letters, directing a team of analysts, and special advisors etc... I don't see him wearing a suit and uncomfortable tie everyday...

I don't beleive it, simply because IMO it's not something that MS would want to do.

Personally, my bet is on Homer Simpson.

don't want schumacher in charge anyway, would most certainly be fans, teams etc saying its a bad move as things would be done in favour of ferrari more than other teams

MS is beginning to look like the Phantom - The Ghost Who Walks.

One day it's a MotoGP career, the next it's FIA president. What's next? Ferrari chief mechanic? (well, someone has got to replace Stepney... :D )

One thought is, what else does Michael do with himself? Nothing can replace F1, the biking is fun but dangerous and he's not young enough to heal quickly any more when the inevitable crashes come along.

At 40 he has to start doing things that are less physical and more cerebral, maybe he would go for it.

If he did, he'd get a lot of votes. Bernie wants someone pro-Ferrari because that's his big brand and he wants them in contention every year, the Ferrari people in FIA would want him obviously, the others would think at least he might be better than Todt, and all the FIA members in obscure far-flung corners of the world know who he is.

Not that I'm in favour, necessarily, but as unsubstantiated rumours go, it seems to me this one has more legs than most.

I think not.

There is already a formal Press Release upcomming from the Anti-Schumacher forces, to ask Michael to not even think about it.

I totally disagree Todt would be totally wrong for the job but imho Schumacher would do a fantastic job and would NOT be overly biased in favour of ferrari.

Well, try to think of Mosley as a neo-Nazi cheater, then Schumacher begins to look a little better.

Michael is inexperienced in the politics and dealings of the FIA, he even has never been a member of the FIA, so most likely he will need a mentor/instructor, a 'right hand', for all those things... Guess who it will be? ;)

He might be looking for a new job quite soon, but his track record won't read too well.

I nominate Lukywill. With him in control the 2009 technical regulations might get a much clearer wording.

There are lots and lots of good things about Schumacher, but there are far too many singing in that choir already no need for me to join up.
