Was reading the Top Gear F1 blog
http://www.topgear.c...-Turkey-cinema/

"The sound was great too, and even the commentators were better than a certain someone I could mention (BBC, if you haven't already, I urge you to sign up Karun Chandhok for your F1 commentary next season. He's very good)."

Who does he commentate for anyway?

nope.

Star has a half wit named Steve Matchett with Chris Goodwin. Goodwin has not been around for a while as he has been mentoring Bruno Senna apparently. So they have new guys coming in each time. This time around was the absolute WORST with Alex Yoong and his unsure chatter and Matchett and his ******** banter.

I actually stopped watching after a while.

Steve Matchett has been on Speed TV in the US since 2000 at least, unless he's left?

Unfortunately Goodwin is now the GP2 secondary commentator. Bruno Bruno Bruno bruno bRUNO Bruno. Blah blah blah.

I hard Karun commentate a World Series race at Donington a few years ago, maybe 05 or 06. At any rate, he was seriously seriously impressive. It took a while to get used to the 'accent' because normally sports are commentated by someone of the nation you are in, but he had perfect tone and delivery and was obviously very knowledgeable. This was at a stage in his career when he was still basically a nobody, he was deeply in the shadow of Karthikeyan but I remmeber thinking "to hell with driving, you could be a star commentator".

Driving like a madman currently in GP2, needs to calm the hell down.

skinnylizard,
Thats Steve Slater and not Matchett, he's been with Star since ages.
He's quite irritating though, always trying to create excitement when there is none. If there is even 1 single overtaking move he would waste no time in saying 'Who says there is no overtaking in Formula 1?"
His other fav dialogues are "They are playing a 200 MPH per hour game of chess!"

Miss Chris Goodwin though, a lot. This weekend they had Alex Yoong and the less said about him the better.

Cheers

It's Steve Slater...From whatever I have heard of Matchett,he sounds very knowledgable and he has written some wonderful books as well.

Steve Slater is intolerable.Goodwin knew his stuff..but his bias for McLaren always came through. But,that's atleast understandable..

Steve Matchett is very good. He's calm, knowledgable, smart, and unbiased. Very good commentator.

apologies,

i hate that wanker Slater so much that my mind blocked out his name. With Goodwin he (Slater) was bearable as Chris brought some sanity to the proceedings.

Almost always Slater is wrong about cars and drivers, he should know the helmets by now or wait till a name flashes up. has weird ass conspiracy theories and worst of all he has a serious Lewis Hamilton bias...

dont think i have ever heard Chandok wield the microphone.
