After having carefully re-watched the start of the turkish gp, it appears that, inside top 12, every starter placed on the dirty side of the track was overtaken at the start by his follower (kova by hammy, raikkonen by kubica, webber by alonso, trulli by heidfeld, coulthard by rosberg and barrichello by button)... Difficult to find other explanation to that trend than the side of the track, especially when for two of those pairs we had two teammates involved... Isn't it silly that qualifying second is less good than third? What could be done about it? Should the FIA wash the starting grid just before the race to even the grip between the two lines?
Starting on the dirty side, "mission impossilbe"?

Ban startline launch control. I noticed that the starting camera at Turkey was located quite low down. Perfect for seeing tire smoke. Except there was not a single puff of tyre smoke at all. Launch control has not been banned. It is here but in another guise.

On American Television, SPEED, Seb Vettel during a prerace interview with Peter Windsor, said that he was not worried about starting on the dirty line.
Apparently he said that he "laid" rubber down during the formation lap, i.e. as soon as he blasted off the grid. He had the intension of putting as much clean rubber on his take off spot in order to reduce any wheelspin.
And thinking about it, thats all the drivers can do. Lay as much rubber as they can on that side of the track before the race starts.
It also says something for launch control, which was supposed to be banned.

In a not too distant past, we had a sunday morning warm up. Drivers would sweep across the dirty side in order to clean it for the afternoon's race.
