and we were called upon to vote on f1 racings best 100 drivers of all time.

may i ask how we came to the conclusion that lewis hamilton is the 15th best driver of all time?

at the point of voting hed done 18 gp, won a few, and had a corker of a rookie season. but.... well.... im stunned.

Oh, and as sad and traumatic as it was...putting roger williamson as #99....

its this kind of thing that makes me glad that the FIA doesnt listen to the fans, otherwise wed have some insane **** going on.

They should not allow current drivers in those polls either... I know some of them are obviously good but you can't measure their unfinished career against the all-time greats. Hamilton might not win a single WDC...

It may be a tad bit high, but I don't see anything wrong with that. Many people had already put Raikkonen on their top list while he was at McLaren and never won any WDCs.

based on his success rate and potential, hamilton MAY end up in the top 5 legitimately. but jesus, hes about on a par with jacques at the same stage in his career. would anyone have jv in in the top 15 of all time? (obviously not, hes #41 in that poll).

this is the 'greatest of all time', and i find it hard to beleive that at the moment, there arent atleast 100 better than lewis.

when things even out over the span of a few seasons id be happy to consider him.

they have both hills ascari and brabham as the 4 guys next in line behind him.

Sometimes the World Champion is the best driver, sometimes not. There seems to be a broad assumption that winning World Championships provides incontravertable evidence of a driver's ascendency. The only thing absolutely proved by winning a World Championship is that a driver gained the greatest number of points in a year.

See your mixing up fan and F1 enthusiast, never the twain shall meet. How we qualify enthusiasts is another thing entirely Lewis Hamilton is potentially one of the best 100 of all time, he could also still be one of the greatest flops, I think he will eventually be the former but he and not by his own design has to live up to an incredibly distorted fan view ably helped by the media who indeed rely on these fans for their supper.

lol, what utter nonsense. the guy with the most points at the end of the year isnt called the world champion for nothing. He managed to beat everybody else and finished in the highest places overal. End of story. Next thing you know you gonna say martin brundle was a decent driver, wich he wasnt. He was a loser and a crash happy volkswagen salesman.

Do you know what driver ran Senna the closest in F3? The Senna/Brundle F3 tussle is legendary. Thereafter it is all about where you end up, and Toleman was better placed to showcase Senna than Tyrell was for Brundle.

Fair point but unless anyone can foresee Hamilton 'doing a Jacques' and going off to start a brand new team with hopes and dreams, thus ruining potentially a brilliant F1 career, then I'd say Lewis is a safe bet to become a great driver pretty soon.

That said, there is NO WAY he should be at 15 already. That's absurd.

Oh, Jacques should be higher than 41 also. Unfairly tarnished and not enough remembered of the first half of his F1 career.
