Quick question for anyone going to the test, I ordered my tickets online the week the they went on sale, but they have not arrived yet, has anyone else got their tickets or do they send them out at the last minute?

Not received mine yet. They said about 4 to 5 days when ordering. I ordered mine tuesday so I am hoping they will arrive tomorrow at the latest, if they are not on my doorstep tuesday morning I'll give them a call.

Just to reiterate: if you wish to attend the Testing then you must book your tickets in advance. There will be no tickets available on the gate. In addition, spectators will be "housed" at Farm. This is because there is pre-GP construction work between Luffield and Copse; the Test and the GP have never been so close together before so there's a lot of work to do.
Oh - and please obey the spectator marshals. In previous years the circuit has had fans climbing over the barriers and pushing their cameras up against the fences. Please note that the areas between the terraces and the fences are there for a reason: to reduce the risk of you getting hurt if a car goes off. We had a problem today at Farm where spectators were climbing over the barriers.
The spectator marshals are not there to spoil your fun but to make sure that you are safe.

12 quid to see the cars run more laps than a race. It's always popular. It's a shame they have had to go this route though. It was always nice to be able to go down the main straight get your photos of turn one and then move down to opposite the pit area and sit up in the grandstands there for a while and finish the day down by bridge and luffield. Gets very busy down in that corner. Not sure what it'll be like from Farm but hopefully it'll still be a fairly decent view.

I'd recommend booking either today or tomorrow to be on the safe side. I don't know what the "cap" is but I can find out.

Oh if they are going to restrict us to one area then perhaps I won't go. I thought we would have access and ability to explore the circuit. I thought the kids would love roaming around finding different vantage points, watching the car screaming about.

It's not Silverstone "greed" Dudley. The circuit doesn't get the money from the catering and the caterers set the prices. Yes it's a pity that spectators are charged to enter; however, that is now in line with every every other circuit that hosts an F1 test. Be fair: it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a Grand Prix anyway - where, if you have General Admission, you are also stuck in one area on race day as you'll lose your place if you move.
I think it's a shame about the public being down at Farm. However, do you want to get flattened by a forklift truck? You probably have common sense but a lot of people don't - the first person to get run over would sue Silverstone. Of course it didn't help that, last year, a lot of spectators were also ignoring the "No access" signs and clambering over barriers to get stick their little disposible cameras through the holes in the wire fences; again, if a bit had fallen off a car and the spectator had got hurt (carbon fibre shards do hurt!) then Silverstone would get the blame. As is often the case, the behaviour of a minority can spoil it for the majority.

How about at least following Hockenhiems example where GP ticket holders can attend the test for free?

Hmm, I'm not entirely warming to the idea of being penned up within Farm for the duration of the day. I can see the reasons as to why they're having to do it, but well I don't know if it warrants a day off work now!
Is there any mention on the Silverstone website or tickets about the lack of roaming over the three days?

I've just noticed that my credit card was refunded the tickets I ordered last week, been trying to phone but not getting through, to find out whats happening.
I've reordered them but again not being able to speak to someone is a bit frustrating.

I remember going to a test back in February 2001. IIRC, Arrows, Jaguar, Jordan and a few others were there. Pretty chilly mind you. I've got some pictures of the test. If I find them, I might post them.

All three-day tickets for testing have now sold out. One day tickets are subject to availability and won't be around for much longer, I believe there are only 5,000 allocated for each day?

they limit it because both seating and marshalls are limited. Unlike a GP weekend they don't have the same number of people to make sure everyone is where they should be and doing what they should be. It also stops the regular weekday commuter from being disrupted with the traffic.

I believe it will be a seated thing this year certainly if they are limiting the public to just farm.
Unlike the previous years, theres not really the room to let people mingle around the area. I might be wrong and I certainly hope so.

This test looks to be Farm only, which isnt a bad place to watch from, but it's good to be able to change position once in a while.

Silverstone Racing Club are still maintaining that is you are a member you don't need to purchase a ticket - is this still the case?
And how on earth is seating going to work?

Especially in my case as I have allocated seats at Farm for the Grand Prix weekend! I'll be sick and tired of that section of track by race day!

Tickets still not turned up in this mornings post, starting to get a bit worried now, phoned the hotline and the message says they are going out 10 days before the event, I think this is a bit late as it leaves little time to sort out any problems, I will be seriously peed-off if my tickets don't arrive what with taking 2 days off work, booking a hotel and hiring a car for the trip.

Gbrand, I phoned them earlier this week with the help of suzy.
They are sending out the tickets next week on the monday so if you do not receive them by wednesday then you should give them a call.
I agree its leaving it rather late especially if there are any problems.

10 days before will between 14-16th. I'd be inclined to call them and speak to someone by the end of the week and demand to know what's going on. Although don't hold your breath for a master-class in customer service! I sent them an email to confirm if for testing we would be stuck at Farm. In return, I got an automated email answering a completely different question about how I couldn't upgrade my tickets for the Grand Prix!

I'd disagree with that.
Friday practice is 3 hours, but at least there will be 18 cars taking part as opposed to a max of 9 cars, assuming they all attend. You will also be able to view the action from any part of the track rather than just one restricted area. There will also be other events taking place on and off the track. Without a doubt the drivers do try a tad bit harder over the race weekend compared to a test session.

Bugger - I've got screwed again.
I notice they carefully avoided mentioning that on the website to maximise the number of idiots buying tickets.
You can bet if they'd put this up they'd be selling tickets on the door to try to make up the numbers. None of this "may be sold out by the end of the week" b******t.

Silverstone Racing Club members and their guests are definitely FREE!
As to how the seating is going to work, I really have no idea. I'd have preferred it if fans could roam around between Luffield and down to Club. Maybe they will open up a bit more of the circuit if they find it doesn't work quite as planned on Tuesday.

Can we please get this nailed down a bit more?
What does "housed at farm" mean. Exactly which other areas of the trackside will be accessible (not sure of the terminology there, but you know what I mean).
This will be my first visit to a GP track since I saw Mansell win, so I'd really appreciate some more info about really how restrictive this will be.
If we really are just stuck in the Farm stands, how do I get my money back?

I have not been there before and i was thinking of hiring a car and driving there from my hotel which is in the middle of the city. I bought the three day ticket siited on luffield copse A, but unfortunately, there was no good information on parking or public transport. Iam thinking of hiring the car, so that we can arrive very early to pick the best seat. How is the availability of parking in this place? Is there any park and rides if i cant park in the circuit? Cheers, by the way my tickets are yet to arrive a week since i ordered

Just to be clear is this for the GP or for the test?
Either way:
As far as public transport goes the easiest way is to get the tube to London Euston and take the London Midland overland service to Northampton. This takes about an hour n a bit depending on the train you get.
From Northampton if you're lucky they will be running a bus service (would need to check with the circuit for bus services connecting Northampton rail station to Silverstone).
There is plenty of parking there though and to be honest I would really advise just driving. It will probably be not much more expensive driving than getting public transport and a whole lot more convenient (traffic permitting of course). Although I'm not sure where exactly you're staying, the congestion charge zone could make things a bit
if you can't avoid it.

Congestion charge is only applied weekdays. So weekends it is _not_ applicable.
