That track looks stunning - look at the bridge and the mountains in the background. Where is that?

Edit: Ah sorry I see you put the name of the track above the first picture. Any more pics?

Unbelievably tricky track? ;)

http://maps.google.c...3,0.009527&z=17

Looking at the circuit in Google Earth with terrain turned on shows what a beautiful setting the track is in.

Is the same track "El Zonda" where the great Andrea de Adamich won with the Ferrari F2 in 1968., the "Temporada Argentina" of european F2.

The 18th May, 72.000 persons enjoyed the street race TC2000 in the Santa Fé city!!

Remarkable issue: with only 2.0 litres and 8.300 Rpm, the TC 2000 engines have 325-330 HP in the Renault Meganes (tunned by SODEMO) and the Ford Focus factory team (tunned by Oreste Berta),

The ex Renault F1 tester José López won in Santa Fé city.

The awesomes Focus, Official Team Ford Argentina, the driver Martin Basso also race in the FIA GT too.

Ricardo Risatti is Champion in the Spanish F3 '07, and tested the Toyota F1 car in Paul Ricard the last October.
Now run with this lovely Chevy Astra (Spiess engines) team General Motors Argentina official

Awesome racing Repco, thanks! A few things;

1- Your English is fine.
2- That hp figure can't be right, unless they use turbos.
3- Is the race series on now? Isn't it winter in Argentina? Where can we follow the series?

Thanks again!

The engine power in the top squads is supposed to be around 310 bhp (they don't use turbos) thou I don't know how reliable it is. The WRC teams still declare around 300 bhp, but I remember when Raies Competición bought a Corolla WRC for the Argentine rally championship, they confirmed (I think it was at Berta Motorsport) around 360 bhp or something, and it was the lowest spec engine.
And yes it is winter in Argentina and the series is on now (holidays for motorracing are in summer here)

EDIT: Oh, and last weekend race at El Zonda was great, thou I wanted Werner to win it...

Bite your tongue!!! Keep Bernie, Max, and Tilke as far away as possible. We don't need the 3 stooges destroying another track in the name of safety, comfort, access, and Bernie's wallet.

Are you sure about the RPM limit? I looked up the tech regs here; http://www.tc2000.co.../reglamento.php and I couldn't find any reference to a rev limit. To get that much power from a NA 2.0L engine they'd have to run around 11,000 rpm..

I am very sure ..., the limit is 8300 Rpm from the 2002 season.,
before was of 8500 Rpm, like the WTCC.

My son Lucas Benamo , drive a Honda Civic, in private Team "Rio De La Plata" his owner is the ex Champ Cart driver Juan Ignacio Cáceres ., I have all the data and unlimited acces to team workshop., the engines Honda are tunned by my best friend Victor Rosso, the owner of RAM's Racing, the Honda's company in charge.,
(But today, now, all the Hondas have 318 HP like maximun... :( :( ..)

TC 2000 Updates

ANTHONY REID. HONDA PETROBRAS
"I want to win the Buenos Aires 200 Km"
Posted Image

Buenos Aires, July 25th 2008.- The highly-experienced Scottish driver, Anthony Reid, will again compete in the Buenos Aires 200 Km, and in the process will become the only European driver to have competed in the event's five editions. In an exclusive interview with www.tc2000.com.ar, he spoke about his previous outings down here and the repercussion of the event in Europe, and said: "I want to win this race for Honda and myself."

How do you view your forthcoming participation in the Buenos Aires 200 Km enduro?
I very much enjoy coming to Argentina every year for this race, It is a big race in South American Motorsport and it’s important for the Manufacturers, Teams and Drivers to do well.

¿What does this race mean to you?
For me personally it is a privilege to race for the Honda team and my friend Victor Rosso, they are a very professional team, they look after me very well and I really want to win this race for Honda and myself.

You'll be co-driving the Honda with José María López. What do you know about him?
I know Pechito from last year and know he is a very good young driver, he also achieved a lot of success in Europe and was Test driver for the Renault F1 Team, I saw him testing F1 at Silverstone.

¿What is known of the 200 Km in Europe?
The BA 200kms is becoming well known in Europe especially as some of the WTCC drivers and ex-F1 drivers are participating in this race.

¿What do you most like about the event?
What I like about this event is it is very competitive, also the Argentinean fans are very passionate and they support motorsport like they support football, there will be 60,000 fans at the track for the race.

Do you like long-distance events, with a change of drivers?
Over the years I have done a lot of sports car racing including finishing 3rd at Le Mans in a Porsche 962C and endurance racing in Japan. This year I have been racing a Ferrari 430GT in British GT. It is an interesting format for Touring Cars.

You came close to winning the 2007 event with Carlos Bueno. What are your thoughts on this edition?
It is my ambition to win this event, I finished 2nd last year but it does not guarantee anything as TC2000 is very competitive, however Honda is a very good team and I have a lot of confidence that we can do well.

Do you like the layout used for the 200 Km?
The BA circuit is challenging especially the first corner and the infield is very technical but the Honda is very good around this track.

Wow! How did I miss this thread before? Some of the most beautiful photos I have seen here.If BTCC could find circuits like that maybe they might get crowds simlar? Mention of Tony Watson reminded me he was a 'pen pal' of mine in the 70s long before the internet, and he came to England around 76 and did a run at Brands at the FF racing school.I have a stack of stuff he sent me relating to Argentine F1 & F4(which he did)Sadly I never managed to get to Argentina-please advise date of next years Santa Fe race as soon as possible. :)

TC 2000 Update

Chevrolet pair to race in Buenos Aires
Monday, 4th August 2008

Posted Image

Alain Menu and Rob Huff are confirmed as part of the Chevrolet line-up for the Buenos Aires 200.

Chevrolet has confirmed that World Touring Car Championship pair Alain Menu and Rob Huff are to take part in the Buenos Aires 200 kilometre touring car race.
The pair will take part in the event to support Chevrolet Argentina's title challenge, with Menu looking to try and repeat his victory in 2006 – which came after podium finishes in the two previous years.

Huff meanwhile will be making his second appearance in the race, although Nicola Larini won't make the trip to South America due to other commitments already in place – with Brazilian Hoover Orsi taking the Italian's place in the driver line-up.

"We are very happy to again have the WTCC drivers with us for what is the biggest event of the year in South American motorsports," Jorge Maquiez, senior commercial supervisor for Chevrolet's TC2000 programme, said. "Actually, we will be the only brand bringing in foreign drivers who are driving for the same brand elsewhere in the world, and this proves once again the strength of a global brand like Chevrolet.

"In 2006, the association between TC2000 and WTCC drivers worked very well for Chevrolet, as we won the race; last year, we could not do it because of a date clash, so we are really enthusiastic that we are able to repeat the experience in 2008.
The advantage, this year, is that both Alain and Rob know the track, the race and the TC2000 cars ; on the other hand, the 2008 championship is more competitive and closely-fought than ever. The seven first races have seen seven different winners, which is something unprecedented in the TC2000. We had a relatively slow start of the season, but then our cars have been gaining in reliability and in performance, and we won our first race in round six, in Resistencia.

"Currently, our best-placed driver, Cristian Ledesma, is lying fourth in the standings and a win or a podium finish in the Buenos Aires event, which is granted almost double points, would be extremely helpful to re-open the battle for the title as we get into the second part of the season. Ledesma will race with Alain Menu, while Marcelo Bugliotti will pair with Rob Huff like in 2006 and Ricardo Risatti will share the wheel with Hoover Orsi, who is a Chevrolet driver in the Brazilian stock-car championship.

Yo quiero uno!

How often do the engines fail?

Do they ever race in the rain?

Those are some badass cars.

What kind of rubber do they run?

When are they coming to the 'states?
