Lewis knows he was on fumes and still messed up. I think he's really under pressure at the moment and that will maek tomorrow very interesting to see if he does anything silly.

Heidfeld will not get it together in this season for Q, he can simply not get the tires warm enough, possible that BMW should try load him a little more on fuel and let him circle 3 or 4 laps before he try to nail a time.

That's exactly what BMW tried during Q1, Heidfeld keep driving for several laps.

He was 18th.

Massa's lap, as seen in the telly, was indeed slightly "over driven".
Its interesting to see given that he's now leading Raikk in WDC how he fares.

at MOST he lost one place, kimi was unreacheable
starting 13th or 12th isn't much different

i think lewis will talk with the team and then be ok, he does put alot of pressure on himself tho :/

I think this Heikki penalty has just delivered the race for Ferrari. I cannot see Fernando challenging the Ferrari cars over race distance, or Trulli, Kubica etc. These guys can fight it out amongst themselves while Ferraris run away.

Anything less than 18 points will be a disappointment for Ferrari.

How do you know if the mistakes cost Massa PP if Kimi didn't even finish his best lap? Do you know for a fact that Massa would have been faster than that aborted lap even without the mistakes? Come on hrvoje, a little credit to Kimi, it won't hurt ;)

Hamilton has to try and get passed DC aswell...hehe the most crashed into driver of 2008, although people crash into his side while Hamilton prefares the rear. Glock and Piquet are a bit unknown quantity aswell but they should be dispatched before the first turn.

Toyota have been surprisingly quick, BMW of course surprisingly slow. Heidfeld doesn't deserve a drive in a BMW.

Interesting how free practice would have had you believe that Torro Rosso was quicker than Red Bull, with Webber having spent long periods being the "slowest" of the four. Yet in qualifying, the Red Bulls are 8 and 9, the Torro Rosso's are a disappointing 13 and 14, and Webber is the quickest of the four.

It doesnt matter how much MW may struggle in practice.. when the green flag drops, the bullshit stops! Marks car may not be set up right but it is almost a certainty that come qualifying he will wrestle it around quicker than the other 3

glock isnt that unknow to overtake.... hes very very hard to overtake, and he will try to retake the position straight away, probably the most entertaining guy for ontrack action now

If Hamilton hasn't made up any positions by Adelaide hairpin, he better watch out. Piquet could lunge up the inside and make a few people very upset.

Sounds about right to me.;) He struggled with setup in Friday practice far worse than usual this round, but of course he's not exactly known for his showboating in practice anyway. I'm interested to see how much fuel he has on board compared to DC, who seems to have talked up his fuel load in his post-qualifying comments. But what worries me most is the start tomorrow - he'll now be starting from the dirty side of the track, and given his recent race starts I can just see him losing a place or two on the first lap...

I don't agree with his statement, but your reply is a bit much when every week we have countless people hoping for Lewis to crash out. I hope they get the same response from you.

Weather: air temperature 29/31 °C, track temperature 40/43 °C, sunny then covered skies.

"There could be no better way of celebrating Ferrari's two hundredth pole position than with an all-red front row of the grid in the French Grand Prix: quickest in Q3 was Kimi Raikkonen, who thus recorded his second pole of the season and the sixteenth of his career. Alongside the World Champion will be Felipe Massa. This means that Ferrari has taken five poles from the first eight qualifying sessions of the season: three with Felipe and two with Kimi. "We are very happy with this result," commented the Team Principal of the Gestione Sportiva, Stefano Domenicali. "It is very satisfying to have notched up our two hundredth pole, but we must not rest on our laurels. It's the championship points that count and they get handed out after the race. It's true that this gives us the best possible start, but we will have to watch every last detail if we want to bring home maximum points. On top of that, the weather forecast is very uncertain, with a chance that it could worsen just as the race is on."

Felipe Massa: "It was a good qualifying, especially the first two parts. In the third one, maybe I went a bit over the limit to try and get out all the potential from the car and I lost enough time to prevent me from doing better. However, I am happy, because we have everything in place to pick up important points for the championship. The F2008 is very competitive on this type of track and we worked in the right direction in terms of fine tuning it. Tyre choice for qualifying was not easy but so far, we have been able to be strong in all conditions. I am happy that the team recorded its two hundredth pole position today and it's an honour for me to have made a small contribution to this milestone."

Kimi Raikkonen: "I am very happy with this result, not just for myself but above all for the team. It is a pleasure to have taken Ferrari's two hundredth pole even if, at the moment, I have only played a small part in the history of Scuderia. So far, the weekend is going really well but of course we have yet to tackle the most important part which is the race, where anything could happen. The car has always been well balanced and, at least as far as the first lap is concerned, the performance of the two tyres is pretty similar, while the harder compound seems to do better over a long distance. If I was not to win, I would obviously be a bit disappointed, but the most important thing is to finish and bring home the maximum number of points, because we really need them."

Luca Baldisserri: "A great qualifying, with both cars running troublefree throughout. So far, we have tackled this race weekend in the best way possible, but we know what really counts is the race. Strategy, tyre performance, the work of the drivers and team and, above all, reliability: these will be as usual the key factors. Added to these will be the weather. If it was to rain, we will need to be sharp to react to the various situations that could develop during the race."

Far as I read his post - KR and FA were men of qualifying. Isn't that credit??? Why are Ferrari fans so touchy to the fact that the Ferrari has been the fastest car at nearly every race?

Actually I thought the moment of qualifying was DC launching the Red Bull over the chicane to grab 9th at the end of Q2!

It´s not when he says that Massa was the real pole sitter - but for this and that - that´s not way to give credit, especially when he was totally wrong, like klover said, Kimi abandoned his fastest lap, so how in hell could Pasadena know if Massa was up to the job?

Kovy himself said that Mclaren were expecting penalty so they filled up his car. Considering that his quali performance wasn't that poor at all.

KR did good job and I think he is heavier than Massa. So far poles 3 to Massa and KR 2.

Beemers were disappointing, Alonso seems to be regular top 6 qualifier now

Kimi did a great lap, his last was quicker still. Massa screwed up, also true. I doubt Massa could have beaten kimi today.

Oh, I see. As opposite to Alonso, who has been always at most second fastest car but has obviously been only one responsible for the great speed of his cars? It´s a shame though, just think if he had the same test drivers and team mates as Kimi has had to develop his cars.

BTW strange detail is, that Kimi has done most testing miles both this and last year, but I guess that´s just because he needs rehearsal of how to drive a car.
