.... sorry to bring up such a morbid subject, but I saw this horrific accident for the first time yesterday.

Was this moment shown live on TV?

I was in SA at the time of this tragic F1 GP event - the SABC news did show snippets that night, but if my memory serves me correctly, they did warn viewers before the actual viewing. May only have been snippets of the race and the aftermath, with still shots.
See the forum relating to TOM PRYCE - "A Memorial 30 years on"
This does not make for nostalgia - look at some of the decent tributes posted on YouTube relating to Tom Pryce. Of course there are those that dwell on the accident.

This subject has been covered a couple of times on this forum, with the accompaniment of some expressed disgust at the clips linked...

Okay thanks.

I just started a new thread because I didn't want to intrude on a memorial thread.

It seems that neither Renzo Zorzi nor the marshal who escaped the accident by inches realized what had happened. Both were fighting the little fire at Zorzis Shadow and weren´t aware of the dead marshal a few meters away.

Am I the only person who has never seen this and was never curious enough to?

I watched it live on TV back then and was horrified.

Considering the level of morbid curiousity on display at TNF of late...

Shell-shocked, more likely! :(

That's fair enough.

But as I think you can now see, such topics don't sit that easily on this forum...
