I think its because RB believe they can put someone better in the seat. He has been talking his position up recently, so IMHO if could have kept racing for them he would have.

You make the assumption that he was pushed, rather than jumped. On what basis do you state that RB did not or were never going to offer a new contract ro DC?

He's too old, not consistently quick and it is also possible that he himself might not want to carry on the burden. Besides, for a company like Red Bull sticking to one face for long time does not seem good marketing strategy, particularly when they are not winning races with the said driver(s).

I voted for Because DC WANTED to retire, and he didn't want a new contract, because I know it.

His girlfriend is pregnant.

Because they want Vettel in the seat. And it sounds like they do have a new contract with DC, just not as a racing driver. :)

They wanted to bring Vettel up, figuring he is ready for prime time. IMO DC has done an excellent job at Red Bull as far as leadership goes. His Q problems have held him back a bit, but he's been the points scorer and developer they've needed.

Oh, and I want to get this on the record - Webber will dominate SV next year 2 to 1 in qualy and points.

AMEN to that.

I rate Webber highly and would feel pretty stupid if he got bitten by Vettel boy.

DC is obviously vastly experienced, can be quick and must be a great asset in terms of feedback for development etc (hence is future role with RB)...but really, apart from canada, webber has covered him hardcore in a race weekend sense this year. I'm not sure retirement would have necessarily been on the agenda as soon for him if this had not been the case?

Ditto.

Does anyone here think if Vettel goes to RB that this could open up the door for Bruno Senna at STR?

Red Bull probably thought it was time for a new driver. Perhaps a serious new talent like Vettel!

After his autobiography last year , the clues were there that this was his last year, he probably decided at the time he put his hotel up for sale , the decision was his, but this thread is just another opportunity for some to throw vitriol in his direction, I wonder who they will hate next?

It is. I am in touch with one guy, who used to work for West and is now close friend and in fact colleague of DC. So I hope I have reliable information!

Has there been any sensible answer to this question? Or is it true because someone wrote it on the internet?

Because Gerhard Berger wants Bruno Senna and Christian Horner wants Sebastien Vettel. I'm sure they all love David Coulthard but they need to unleash the Senna name ;)
To be fair to Bruno(which a lot of idiots are not!) he is really holding his own and his pace looks great and he's still inside his limits apparently.

It's ashame, I remember a time when DC was fast in quali, I don't think from the 2003 rules onwards he was the same threat in quali as before, he tried the best with his race pace, but he definately lost something through the changes in 2003.

But I wouldn't generalise that much from quali, Massa, Hamilton also under performed, it was a wind hit quali, I'm sure DC should of been higher up, he's got a good chance for his best race of the year.

Yes he has a chance of getting a good result tomorrow due to the weather, but that's not what you want from your driver. This has been going on for years, and probably all of his career- he just doesn't have it in qualifying. There was a time in F1 when 3-4 tenths in qualifying meant 2 or 3 positions, now it means 5 or 6.
