Hi again folks,

In 1980 three Mexican drivers, Daniel Muniz, Michel Jourdain Sr., and Juan Carlos Bolanos, drove in the CART race at Mexico City, and Jourdain Sr. participated in the 1981 race there.

Does anyone know what teams these drivers were with? Champcarstats.com shows Jourdain's car name in 1980 as "Shade Tree Racing." Same for his 1981 effort? Wikipedia states Muniz purchased one of Pat Patrick's cars for the 1980 race, so I'm assuming this was his (Muniz's) own team, while they also state that Bolanos "rented another team's car" but whose?

Pretty trivial stuff I know, but maybe someone knows?

Thanks!

Gary

Not even in México we know a lot about this races (and less me, snce I was born 11 years after), but I doubt the Mexicans had teams, they probably just rented the cars and that's it.

AFAIK, Jourdain did buy the IndyCar and that team was his.

I think Muñiz and Bolaños were sponsored by Pronósticos Deportivos (like Sport Bets).

For information on Bolanos' entry, see post 367 in this thread.

I wonder if these events were televised at the time?
