Researching an old photo I've put on my site, led me to re-read this thread. The photo seems to show a similar scene to one already featured a while back, albeit from a different angle. Anyway, thought you'd be interested to see it...

Rick

hi rick,im sorry its taken me so long to answer you ,bin a bit busy with other things, what a lovely picture of the engine, thanks for putting it on,allways interested in anything to do with brookie and his efforts ,i have been busy on other projects and have not had much time and money to spend on the gp special over the last 12 months,i am stuck for rear uprights at the moment, so i have been doing other things,David morris has stripped the pre selector gearbox for me so we can get the lines through to the diff, but all is now at a stand still as i need the uprights before i can finalise the diff position and i can't seem to find any,the problem is the brakes need to be outboard and the uprights need to be compatible for 15" or 16"inch wheels so the car sits right and the drive shafts run level ,i havn't made the rear wishbones yet ,so the uprights are the next step, thanks again for the picture on the thread as soon as i do some more progress i will add it to this thread, but i am just about to pull the engine and gearbox out of the brough superior ags for inspection and some work before the season starts with the VSCC,.happy new year to all who read this ,and i can't wait for this years F1 season to start with my hero coming out of retirement ,i wonder wether the brawn cars will be the new silver arrows ,i certanly hope so,and i wish michael the best of luck and hope he does it again as i am sure alot of other fans do, martyn.

I thought I'd bump this up as we've not had any news for a year!

And now for another couple of years. Any news of Martyn and his car?

Strange that there is no news on this wonderful project for three years. Does anyone here know Mr. Chapman?

I was given a pile of old C&SCs the other day and in the May 200 edition there was the story of Martin Chapman and the 2 types of Coventry built V8s. The last post by had on this was back in 2010. Does anyone know what happened to the Godiva V8 or the Speed V8, or indeed the Kieft GP. I feel sure a Kieft has appeared in recent years, is this the Chapman car?

Is Martyn Chapman still with us?

He has a Facebook page and is very active on that.

From memory, a chassis along the lines of a 1950s GP car has been built around the Speed engine. I also have a feeling that the project may be available for sale.

The Kieft GP is a different car that has been completed and run for a number of years.

Nigel Batchelor in the Kieft GP a couple of weeks ago which I understand was brought to life in 2002 by well known ERA enthusiast Bill Morris.

I have spoken to Martyn's daughter and she will arrange for him to be back soon.
