Some photos sent by my brother. He moved to Australia last year and lives in the small village of Echunga in the Adelaide hills. Therefore chuffed to bits that the Classic Adelaide passed the bottom of his
garden! Here he is posing in the Classic Team Lotus shirt I sent him, next to our Doug with Paul Vestey:

It was a bit wet when the rally started from Adelaide on Friday.

Bumping this to the top for Doug to see, now he's home from this great event.

Aah - thank you. It's a bit of a surprise when 12,000 miles from home, rolling up to the start of another spectacularly wonderful stage in what to us was the middle of nowhere, a v. pleasant bloke introduces himself as Andrew's brother, living just round the corner! Also great to meet Ray Bell on this trip - there's a bloke whose wide-ranging knowledge and experience - as so often demonstrated here on TNF - is REALLY impressive.

Rather less impressive is the wide-ranging experience and knowledge of present-day Ferrari Owners' Club members, one of whom succeeded in clocking the lowest speed ever recorded through a Classic Adelaide Rally chicane - only marginally improved upon along the straights (!) - and many of whom gazed in utter bewilderment upon an alloy-bodied, 3-carburettor, 275GTB/Comp with Le Mans GT-winning history... What? Who? And where? "Why have you fitted those wire wheels"? "Did Ferrari race that far back then?" "Was the blue stripe an option?". All very, very surprising...or perhaps it was just naive of me to be so surprised?

Oh - and even more surprising perhaps was the now annual meeting with the Willunga resident who appears each year to say hello, and who was one of the team mechanics on the Le Mans Rover-BRM gas turbine car project! I'm not sure which village is smaller, Echunga or Willunga, but trust me neither is by any means a teeming metropolis. Racers just get everywhere. I'm glad to say...

My brother says there is no running water system in Echunga. He just installed 3 giant water tanks that collect rain water from the roof for the supply until the next rainy season ( once the house is built ). He does however have planning permission for a bore hole in the garden if need be!
