Hi there. Just thought Id try & get abit more info on the RH helmet I have. Im 27 & have owned this for around 18 years. My dad bought it from a car boot for me to use when using my off road Honda CG 125. I was about 9 at the time & couldn't touch the floor so he cut & welded the frame & added a slim seat.

Anyways I just wondered if any1 could help out with this. The symbol & letteringare not painted but seems to be stickers with a laquer over the top. Inside the Helmet is a sticker which states made in 1980 & shows it being a Kangol & size 2 I think.

Any info would be good. Thanks.

Hi V Dub, this question has come up before about Ron's lids, sadly this is not one worn by him, he only ever had Pharoah Yam or Pharoah Team on the front, not Rocket Ron or Ron Haslam.
I will post some photos in a minute.

Did motorcycle companies produce copies at the time then but weren't allowed to copy it entirely? I didnt think it was 1 worn by the man himself in all honesty but it is deffinatly old & just wanted to find out abit of info around these. :)

At that time you could get replicas of Agostini, Phil Read, Mick Grant, and they were exact replicas, but I dont remember a Ron Haslam one being done, but if there was it would be an exact replica, your one was probably done by a fan.

I think you'd have to say though, it was one dedicated and highly skilled fan to have done that back in 1980!

No computer programmed, laser cut graphics then, he must've been a dab hand with a scalpel blade and a sheet of vinyl.

There were many versions of the Pharoah, Andy. The original was sign written & didn't look much like the one at the top.
& Btw the Kangol was one of a replica series, not a fan's attempt. They weren't made for long or in great numbers. You can see masks and air brush techniques on both the "Rocket" lettering & the Pharoah.

Really?! You can see why they did not sell! its awful nothing like Haslam's lid in art work & quality is poor. :well:

Yes All about time, but they probably didn't cost that much either.
