MotorFilms Quarterly Volume 22

Well this very latest edition has just dropped through the letterbox.

When you hear that evocative and lovely theme music, you just know you are in for another 90 mins of great entertainment and this latest volume is no exception.

1. The Triumph Marque part 2 another promotional film of 17 mins in colour covering years of participation of TR4s Spitfires etc on snow covered rallies and at Le Mans and more..

2. The Club 57 part 2 BRSCC seasonal survey of their years activities with lots of paddock and behind the scenes activity in B&Wat various circuits including Jack Sears finishing 2nd at Silverstone in an Austin Westminster, fabulous stuff. 18 mins

3. 1930s worldwide Bill Mason film compilation movie of all sorts of different items from around the world in that decade 8 mins

4.Goodwood 1998 - an amazing historic sportscar race in the first revival year with Murray Walker and Simon Taylor 17 mins

5. Ace of Clubs 1962 David Roscoe BRSCC '62 colour lots of Brands Hatch action Jack Sears again in the paddock down to drive a Ferrari in the GT race , , really really good films. 25 mins.

I think these films are just essential viewing great footage brilliantly put together and splendidly linked between by Doug Nye. Not to be missed I think , you will just love it ! www.motorfilms.com

i bet grieg must have had a vision about motorracing when he wrote it!!! the music suits the topic so well....
anyway...i was wondering what the exact recording/orchestra is that we can hear on the dvd's...was looking for it on youtube but none of them are played as good as on the dvd...

Marty, as you say the music which is so splendid and fits the MFQ compilations so perfectly is the Prelude from Grieg's Holberg Suite and this is a magnificent performance.

that is correct but what i would love to know is who was actually playing that particular recording that is used for the dvd...what orchestra (where from,directed by whom )and when the recording was made (obviously available on cd somewhere)

Thank you for your interest chaps; I have despatched a carrier pigeon to Schloss Weguelin but no response thus far. For some reason Berlin Philharmoniker springs to mind, but I shouldn't really hazard a guess...
