It is a new one on me.
I would be surprised if such a book had been published and I had missed it - although it is possible.
There are a few books by Starkey on my catalogue, but nothing on F5000.
Possibly it is one that is in the process of being published and someone at Amazon has listed it incorrectly.

I looked at http://www.bibliofind.com; they list several of Starkey's books but not this one. You might want to check back periodically to see if they get one.
Yahoo also lists it as being out of print.
If you have the time (which I don't anymore - I started a new job 2 months ago and they actually want me to work) I'd do a lot of web searching for sites that list used books. Bibliofind is one that I've used in the past. I'm sure there are others.
I wouldn't mind having a copy myself. Wonder when it was published.

You might also check http://www.motorbooks.com. This is the site for Classic Motorbooks.

The latest Mill House Books catalog announces a forthcoming book on F5000. With great imagination it's called 'Formula 5000' and it's described as a unique portfolio, whatever that means. Price 9.95 UK pounds. Their E-mail address is MHBooks2@AOL.com or they can be found at http://www.millhousebooks.com
If you do buy it, let us know what a unique portfolio is.

Unique Portfolios are similar to Brooklands Books - i.e. reprints of magazine stories. The quality of reproduction isn't as good as Brooklands by a long way, but they put out some titles that Brooklands consider to be not commercial enough. Formula 5000 would be one example.
I have found them frustrating in that they offer a smattering of stories but do not necessarily cover the subject, whereas when Brooklands do put out a motor sport book, they are very complete. Witness the recent Le Mans, Mille Miglia and particularly the Land Speed Records series from Brooklands.
I also have a Unique Portfolio motor sport compilation in which there are no dates for the race reports and the chronological order is jumbled. You would have to go to another source just to get the dates.
In other words, you might get some answers you're looking for and you might also get frustration.
