I agree. Taking away the surprise of who's pitting first. They think they're pleasing the fans with this, but they're not.Originally posted by peroa

Media
The FIA will publish the weights of all cars after qualifying at each Event.
Yea - it senseless publish it half an hour before race.
FIA and FOM seems antonyms to word "logic".

FOTA introduced it as a cost-cutting measure, it saves them bringing a spotter each. The only people who didn't know were the fans.
But we need to know NOW so we can argue about fuel-corrected grid positions, please. There are 18 hours to fill before the race...

So far I've been told:
JB 664.5
RB 666.5
SV 657.0
RK 650.0
NR 657.0
(all in kg)
That makes Brawn's performance even more impressive and suggests they're about a second a lap quicker than the field. Expect to see most cars lapped tomorrow if it all goes to plan...

Fisi, Heidfeld, Heikki and probably Sutil on one stoppers...? That's risky, given the fact how fast the softer compounds starts to go to crap.

Impressive run from Glock, and those Brawn guys are not light.
Kimi might as well have put another lap or two of fuel in, given where he is.

3-4 laps lighter than Vettel. BMW is nowhere near where they wanted to be.

When did for Heidfeld for example have to announce his fuel load? Last year he would have been able to wait till Sunday and see what the weather is like then make a choice. Now it looks like he has to decide before qualy qualy.
This also means that teams must have to choose a fuel load before knowing if they will reach Q3 or not. It looks like Nakajima was going light in the hope of getting pole (or front row) but because he made a mistake he will now start 13th on low fuel which completely rules him out of any realistic hope for points!
Another example is Lewis will now start 18th (Toyota 19/20) with 655kg and Heikki will start 12th with 690kg. I must say I’m a little confused !
On the plus side I suppose it means Lewis and Nakajima will be able to pick there way through the field and overtake a few cars.

Erm, 7kg of fuel really mean 3-4 laps in Melbourne?

so the whole weight is insignificant now!
we need to know each drivers' weight and add it up

Why is the weight insignificant? We know team-mates cars weigh the same, so any difference must be fuel, surely?
The driver's weight is only important if you want to know how a driver did in comparison with his team-mate, a la Kubica/Heidfeld. These weights give a clear indication of how much further than his team-mate a driver will run to the first stops, and if the cars are all at or near the minimum weight then it shows how much further he will go in relation to those around him on the grid.

The FIA published Nakajima's wieght incorrectly. It should be 680.5 as per the Autosport clarification which makes more sense now. Still strange that Lewis has gone for less than the others.
