TRUE Lewis Hamilton fans going nowhere!

This is my first post on this forum, I have been lurking since winter testing started. What has provoked me to post now is a suggestion I read here or elsewhere that with McLaren doing badly the McLaren/Lewis Hamilton supporters have disappeared.
I started watching Formula One in about the third race of 2007 having switched from Nascar (I live in the UK and wanted to watch something that happened more often at more convenient hours). This was perfect timing of course to get into the whole McLaren/Ferrari intense rivalry, and find out about Lewis Hamilton, and since then I have got a HUGE amount of enjoyment, and often pure joy, from watching F1.
So with McLaren doing badly compared to those two seasons, am I going to turn off or switch over? Am I going to lose interest in Lewis Hamilton if he is not leading the grid?
HELL NO!
For a start, seeing as Lewis Hamilton has brought me close to two years of sometimes dizzying happiness and excitement, when all I have done is watch from my sofa, I think the least I could do in return is continue my support through the bad times, even if it takes another two years to get back to what he might consider better form.
And secondly, I will derive as much pleasure watching Lewis Hamilton fighting from say 13th to 10th as I have done from say 3rd to 1st. It actually makes it more exciting. The last two seasons sometimes *felt* more about the qualifying and strategy to get the wins from the front and sometimes less about the driving from lap to lap against other drivers. It will be a refreshing and enjoyable change to see Lewis competing with other drivers more often in more comparable machinery.
Starting from the back of the grid in the first race of the season?
BRING IT ON!
Like I said, TRUE Lewis Hamilton fans are going nowhere. It's payback time.
Go Lewis Hamilton in 2009! Wring the neck of that dog car!

instead of making claims of performances that have not happened, I think it is best to just si' down and watch

If Hamilton runs at the back for a year it will be seen by some as due penance, others will still bitch about silver spoon spoon etc... that's just opinions
he's a great racing driver - some of the finest driving of recent years has been between Hamilton and [insert name] your garanteed to see him making daring overtaking moves almost every race
Remains to be seen if he has the temprement to be a backmarker all season, but carry the team forward. I hope he can carry the weight alongside Kovalainen until Mclaren produce a decent car.

Personally, I'm intrigued to see how he will deal with this.
I'm still a Lewis fan , and a huge Macca fan, though I watch F1 regardless of who's in it, and who's winning.
There are certain teams who I just cannot support.
This will be character building for Lewis.
That's my piece.

McLaren have produced decent cars more often than they have produced 'indecent' cars, this one will find some speed too, don't worry about that.
I'm McLaren supporter, I don't care who drives the car, as long as it's a McLaren.

There's no doubt that he has shown the current crop of F1 drivers that aerodynamics don't need to stop you overtaking.

WHO ARE THE BIGGEST CRYBABIES, FERRARI OR MCLAREN FANBOYS?
Considering Ferrari are in the top 10 and McLaren are in the lower reaches of the top 20 who is complaining more about the new world order?
Maybe it is British stiff upper lip coming into play with the McLaren lot whilst the latin crowd just want to be noisy and everyone to know about it as per type?

This is what i've been waiting for, seeing whether Lewis is at a Senna/Schumacher level or not. If he can get some decent results in this year's McLaren we'll know that he's one of the greats who can overcome a bad car.

LH is going forwards already and he hasn't got back in the car yet... the more 'front-runners' end up out of the running, the more rewarding the race could be for LH, and still good racing for us to watch.

Ironically, Button was mostly ignored by the (non-specialist) press in the UK that year because of the explosive emergence of a the rookie Hamilton while Hamilton could get ignored in favour of another English driver making absolutely shocking waves in an English car with a Mercedes engine!
That said, the McLarens don't seem to be a million miles behind the Ferraris and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they're back in with a shout of podiums (or at least decent points) by the time of the Spanish GP.

Incidentally, the guy is growing on me. And if he can pull off some '92-Senna-esque "get the most out of the car" drives then I will shoot my wad faster than even James Allen.
There's no doubt that he has shown the current crop of F1 drivers that aerodynamics don't need to stop you overtaking.
you don't know how sensitive to following other cars their car was.

That's my only real worry, that he might take himself out trying to stay in front of cars overtaking him. Hopefully he can play it smart. The most important thing tomorrow is to finish the race I think, assuming carnage at the first corner and possibly reliability issues in the field.

Indecent cars? Are you referring to the Penthouse Hesketh?

It is kind of weird, but as a Maca fan, iam kind of excited that Lewis is having a difficult car and would enjoy to see him racing it and throwing it around. Some of the best driving from him were when he was behind hopefully he will continue to challenge

There might not be much to cheer about this season Hamilton wise but hopefully the good affect of that will be to push away the plastic fans away from McLaren and Hamilton, unfortunately those same fans will probably gravitate towards Brawn GP and Button rather than just leaving the sport for good.

It's a testament to just how good a driver he is that he has so many to lose.
However I do not like his new-found testiness, cockiness, unpleasantly arrogant attitude at times...
And the new McCrock is going to be a first for Hamilton. I'm not saying it will necessarily be as hard a test as trying to win the championship these past few seasons, but it will be a new test - one he has not had before, certainly not in F1.

Is it me who doesn't read the magazines, or keep missing parts of a grand prix weekend, but I've really never seen any of this, I see more arrogance and unpleasantness and cockiness just visting this forum, I mean yeah, occasionally he says things that could be better phrased, but then I see other grand prix drivers, saying the same and doing other stuff, but seemingly being allowed to get away with it without being put under the microscope, as I said, I must assume that either I keep missing it, as the only other option, people just want to see they care to see, and the reasons for that is really only they can fathom

I don't know what people mean when they call him arrogant. Meanwhile Petter Solberg cheerfully explains his highest top speed on a rally stage as being down to his bigger balls and eveyone just has a laugh with him.
Some people look for for excuses to be against Hamilton, it seems. Hard to explain "new found testiness" otherwise.

Sorry, no, just plain wrong, there is no paying dues or anything, thats just plain jealousy for a rival team, as a Ferrari fan, I doubt you was saying MS needed a poor car in 2005.

huh??? I was never a particularly big MS fan, I acknowledge he was the better driver but if anything I was a Mika fan back in the day. But yeah way to go on being defensive ...
Oh and since you brought MS up ... first three years in F1 MS was in an uncompetitive Benetton, he wasn't in a championship winning car from day 1. I fail to see the parallel you 're drawing.
And everybody has to pay dues, in every walk of life in every occupation, thinking they don't is naive.

3 years in an uncompetitive Benetton?? you've got to be kidding!
A lot of people don't "have to pay dues", get over it, life is unfair. There's no such thing as paying dues.
Hamilton was lucky in the sense that he got great cars for the first two years in F1 and made a name for himself immediately
He made a name for himself by beating Alonso, he's lucky in the sense that he's paired up with a double WDC in his rookie year.
