I hope Bernie loses a lot of money over the red flag and early end of the race. What a joke.

So they kept the earlier advertised race positions just incase the race restarted?

What change the results for a 3rd time?
Doubt it unless there are going to protests
I'm sure I saw heidfeld fall off and fall right down the order.

When the safety car was released is irrelevant. The result is the end of the lap proceeding the red flag being shown.Originally posted by Hippo

The rain was so heavy they had to redflag it.
The time limit was almost up.
They were a few minutes from sunset.
You could say that Bernie shouldn't have pushed the time of the race to appease European audiences, and this wouldn't have happened. But how race control ended the race, they had no choice.

I feel for Räikkönen, think he did really well this weekend, but Ferrari have acted like cocky clumsies throughout.
Rosberg and Williams deserved more than what they got, but it is a lottery when circumstances are like today.
Great performance from Webber and Alonso - good DC-like start!

Lewis thought they was 5th, told they were 7th, but still discussing it
WHAT A JOKE

I don't know for sure. But the rules on which lap will be counted in case a race is red flagged and not restarted are clear.Originally posted by Anomnader

Half-points:
1975 Spanish GP - Mass
1975 Austrian GP - Brambilla
1984 Monaco GP - Prost
1991 Australian GP - Senna
2009 Malaysian GP - Button
*There were "non-integer" points frequently back in the '50s (shared drives)

The starting time was changed to get more viewers, so the real reason are not to appease European viewers, but Bernie's money bag.Originally posted by Cindy

This is no surprise. Many people suspected something like this might happen, and it did. Very harsh on drivers who are only getting 'half-reward' and their efforts being devaluated. Oh well.

It really is a shame when the race finishes under such conditions. I do thnk, though, that the race positions are set to the lap prior to the SC...
Silly end to a good race.
Glad to see Button winning gain though. Just wish it could have been full distance.

Exactly, which was the lap when the sacety car was deployed, which definitely didn't have Webber in 6th and Hamilton in 7th. Weird stuff.Originally posted by Madras

I remember a race som years ago (probably the Fuji race?), were every driver was complaining that is was impossible to go. But the race started with a few laps of SC, and when the race was started for real no driver has problems. Had the directors listened to the whining drivers, we would have had no race. But by sending them out there, it was obvious that is was possible.
Once the insanely heavy rain stops, restart the race! If it still is too difficult, send out the SC again. But at least give it a go, no driver knows how hard it is to drive just by standing still on the frontstraight.

A crazy race - or part of. Almost no-one can be promoted or put down since it was such a lottery. Ferrari were worse than anyone else - their strategy was nothing short of horrendous. And to top that with crappy reliability...

Ferrari strategist needs to be replaced after...three(?) terrible mistakes today.
The Red Bulls are super fast in the wet, could have won if the full race was done.
