Hang on, didn't they lie to the stewards in Hungary to try and STOP Alonso getting penalized?

He is such a wanker (to use one of those quaint British terms). Will he ever grow up, realise that his time at McLaren didn't work out to suit his massive Spanish ego, and just move on? I know, doubtful, very doubtful.

Note to FA: As you seem to be on your computer reading net stuff read this: "Shut your gob and drive your damned car. The more you say the stupider you appear".

Oh FFS, what's the point?

How does Fred having a whine help anyone exactly? We're just dragging up issues that should be consigned to history, it does the sport no good whatsoever.

I don't understand Alonso fans. He admitted that he took part in the Ferrarigate "information sharing" by testifying, but you'd think he walked on water.

It seems that every recent world champion has the compulsion to lie. The only one who has owned up and aplogised is Hamilton. I'll give him a second chance because it's the first time he's cocked up, but if he follows Alonso and Schumacher down their lying paths, then he's off my christmas list.

The guy has ZERO class outside the cockpit.

If I were looking for someone to trust, Fred would most certainly not be top of my list after lying and cheating throughout 2007 - as the FIA's emails proved beyond any doubt.

He's seen an opportunity to give some credance to his BS about Hungary. I think both parties had agreed to not discuss those matters. I suspect a whole can of worms will be opened up here and he won't come out of it smelling like roses.

The guy is an egotistical ****.

I thnk its interesting the way McLaren try to portray themselves. Is it just me or do they always try to make out like they are compeltely in control.

Is there really any harm in saying, 'we had no bloody idea what was going on!'

It certainly seems to get them in a lot of trouble.

Stop arguing with the truth and the pleasure of giving credence to the truth of 2007 will not be such a big deal.

Nothing new really..

 thanks very much Bimmer.

Not sure I agree this is nothing new. I think this is the first time he has said McLaren lied to the stewards in Hungary.

As Alonso gave the same story to the stewards as McLaren did, doesn't this amount to an admission of having lied himself?

Such a FANTASTIC idea Fernando, well done.

Formula One reinvents itself, then shoots itself in the foot with the diffuser problem. Then Toyota get penalised, followed by Trulli and Vettel. Plus the almost-protest by Williams regarding the Ferrari and Red Bull....

This week we also have the Hamilton/McLaren lieing issue, so what does Fernando do? Drag up the McLaren/Ferrari Dossier incident again.

Any chance F1 had to reinvent itself has gone the way of the groove tyre.

I mean, Hamilton and McLaren were wrong to lie, but lets just leave it at that. They have been penalised, and we need to move on.

- McLaren has been caught cheating and lying with tapes to prove it.

- Hamilton has been caught cheating and lying with tapes to prove it.

Now I understand why Alonso takes this opportunity to defend himself from what happened in Hungaroring 2007, and thorough the whole season, they cheated on him, they lied to him, and they made him lose his third title.

Now we understand what kind of people he was dealing with: cheaters, liars, and a huge PR machine who made him look as "the bad one" (at least on the british media).

Thumbs up to Alonso, and what a shameful team full of liars and cowards (a whole team of english pals against the spaniard).

He would deserve the thumbs up if he would have had a laugh at his hotel room reading the news and give a "no comment" when asked about the matter. That way he would show some class and would probably make some people reconsider what happened in 2007.

I was pretty sure that everybody already knew his position on this. What exactly does having another whine nearly two years on prove?

Other than that he can't let it lie? Or that he likes being vindictive and has no care for how his comments will make the sport look?

Childish is surely the only thing this is, to jump and and basically scream LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME, I've got nothing to do with the issue at hand but I must have the last word.

But who told him to wait an extra 10 seconds so Hamilton missed final qualifying? No one arse features, he did it all by himself which makes him as bad as Schumacher for parking his car in Monte Carlo so preventing his championship rivals from a final lap. Alonso is trying and shamefully succeeding in getting everyone in Spain to believe he should be a three times world champion now. Truth is he was made to look average by Hamilton long before Hungary and Trulli did a good job too before Alonso threw a Latin tantrum and got Uncle Briatore to slow Trulli down. As Trulli said yesterday, I have always been honest, so we can only assume he was right about that too, or do you all only believe what you want to believe when it suits you!! Alonso was asked if the situation remembered him the 2007 Hungarian GP. And he answered.

He could have said "I have no opinion", but he's entitled to have one, and to express it if he's asked to, and that's what he's done.

Er, no.

Surely the logical thing would be to just not comment? This had nothing to do with him, he needn't have answered any question thrown at him. If had done so he would have shown maturity beyond McLaren and their recent lies, but his reaction just brings him down to their level.

When Alonso told the stewards that the reason he sat in his pit for 10s after the lollipop was raised in Hungary qualifying was because he was enquiring about his tyres, do you think he was:

(a) saying nothing
(b) telling the truth or
© telling lies to hide the truth to the stewards?
