I think that there should be an independant body that has more power than the FIA. The FIA could be the judge for a dispute between two or more teams but for a dispute between team(s) and FIA, I think that it is wrong for the FIA to be the prosecutor, the witness and the judge.

Bernie would just run the whole championship in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

It could do that, but I think it be a lot more messy then that.

Where are they registered as companie?

Would profits from EU races and TV be able to go to him.

Would FIA be stripped of power as they are stationed in France.

It only takes one complaint.

Don't mention the words "FIA", "stripped" and "power" in the same sentence. Max might get excited.

You really think the EU is gonna do something about it?
MM has "Carte blanche" after he "sold" the commercial rights to Bernie.

They need someone to complain, that happens and they'll investigate.

I've never really understood what the FIA has to do with Formula 1 anyway. The FIA is an agglomeration of motoring organisations - the AA, AAA etc. They look after Uncle Fred in his Morris Marina on the B4196. Formula 1 is run in custom built racing machines on private racing circuits under an entirely different rule-set to public roads. To me, It's like an association of council park wardens ruling over the olympics, because they're held in a sports *field*.

Well, obviously the teams should be the ones with the power. I think that they should elect an independent head to run the sport to their (and their customers (sponsors and fans)) interests.

From the FISA FOCA war, on FORIX 8W

Of course, the 1980 Rio meeting had in fact declared the death of Grand Prix racing as a World Championship sport and replaced it with ‘F1 racing’. It said so in the 1981 FIA Yellow Book:

GENERAL REGULATIONS
1 -- In application of the decisions taken during the FIA Rio Congress of 15th April 1980, the FISA is organising the new FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 1st January 1981. As a result, the old World Championship for Drivers is suppressed.

2 -- The new Formula 1 World Championship, which is the property of the FIA, will have 2 World Championship titles, one for Drivers and one for Constructors.

These significant lines had been Balestre’s key weapon all through 1980, as he tried to oust the FOCA from its control of Grand Prix racing, the old-school concept in which Grands Prix were the starting point, each of them negotiating invididually with their entrants, with the World Championship the mere afterthought of combining a number of prestigious races which happened to be eligible to FIA regulations which didn’t even need to be F1. The old World Championship which would be ‘suppressed’ was in fact nothing else but a collection of self-governed races appointed by the FIA to hold World Championship status, which allowed anyone else to stage an F1 race which wasn’t included in the championship.

Now though, the 1981 championship would fully be a FIA affair, as Grand Prix racing became synonymous with the F1 World Championship.

Who cares, if we look at the present presumably those supporting the FIA stance on McLarens lies have little problem with the FIA and those opposing their stance think lieing and cheating are the status quo in F1 and should go relatively unpunished. Why anyone with the latter opinion would consider the teams worthy of better treatment or believe they would somehow run the sport with greater integrity is beyond me.

So, who here believes the teams never lie, cheat or backstab each other? Maybe they don't deserve anything better. If they did they might actually do something about it instead of just making noises for a bigger piece of the pie.

Give Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) a chance to have a go at it.
