Robert made it clear he wouldn't stay at BMW another year if they don't win the championship. They aren't going to, so McLaren should offer him Kovalainen's race seat. Kovalainen can go to Force India and help them with their McLaren partnership. Sorted. :smoking:

No he didnt and at this stage McLaren seems to be far behind BMW so it doesnt make sense for Kubica. If you'd know anything about history of Lewis - Robert relations in lower series you'd know that this is impossible idea.

Anthony is threatening to move Lewis out of McLaren.

McLaren hired Kovalainen because they knew he was not going to trouble Hamilton. They are not going to repeat 07 by putting another quick driver alongside him.

I am afraid it will be increasingly difficult for McLaren to manage prima-donna style drivers without Ron Dennis (and he was not good at it in the twilight of his career) and therefore, even if Hamilton departs there is no need to hire another overly charismatic driver.

Actually Robert would shine in any team, it is my firm belief, but Whitmarsh and Co will not be able to tame him.

I totally agree. Kovalialainen deserves a better team. Force India may have a better car manufacturing skills than McLaren at the moment and with a decent driver they could prove it.

Kovalainen happened to be the quickest available driver. They asked Rosberg but he wasn't interested.

But they're not going to pair Kubica with Hamilton because Kubica's personality is very similar to Alonso's. Not that I think Kubica would behave as badly as Alonso, but there would be massive friction.

Maybe these drivers didnt like to team up with Lewis in team Lewis? Kovalainen on the other hand didnt have much choice. He would have had to sit an year out as Alonso demanded Piquet for his teammate.

Hamilton was not the problem in 2007. It was Alonso who couldn't handle a teammate that challenged him. And McLaren hired Kovalainen because he was the best driver available and not because they thought he was slow and no threat to Lewis.

I doubt that will happen. BMW is his best option aside from getting a seat at ferrari which already appears to be reserved for alonso. The diffuser issue threw a proverbial wrench in the works this year, BMW seem to have the second strongest non-diffuser car.

No driver in his right mind would go to Mclaren as long as Lews is there. They will always be playing second fiddle whether they deserve to or not.

McLaren didnt want to hear Hamilton saying "well I got the number two on my car so im the number two driver" to the British media in a frustrated manner when he is beaten fairly.
That is why Ron thought he best employee the guy who was mentally broekn down and unfit...

No one wants a seat in team McHamilton until equality becomes more then just a PR buzz word and takes on meaning.

Yeah that why they wanted Rosberg and Vettel

The only person crying, hiding their telemetry and throwing his toys was Alonso. Oh and remind me why Flav got rid of Kovi in Reanult? Remind me why Alonso was the one who influenced Flav to retain Piquet despite his hopeless season? You know the amswers :)

The better they are, the more they need to be protected from challenges and competition?

I mean, I get the logic that no one wants two mentally unstable human timebombs if/when one would suffice, but why is everyone even remotely speedy supposed to be psychologically so darn fragile and dysfunctional that they can't possibly be expected to handle even a little bit of pressure from a teammate? Surely that's too weak to be true?

Do you mind backing this up with a credible source. This was primarily bs fabricated by the british press ..

+1  Hamilton never cared who his team mate was, he justwanted a fair crack at the whip. It was Fonso who had a hissyfit. This is Kubica's 3rd season and still just as far away from a WDc as ever before. it is only a matter of time before he starts to complain even louder.

Well, if Hamiltons upping sticks and off to Ferrari, and Alonso is joining him (im sure i read that on here somewhere - as much as it probably wont happen it would be a great season!) that means theres room at McLaren for Kubica. Massa could go to Renault and Kimi to BMW. Sorted.

Kimi in a BMW - that would be rich.

I've heard a rumour that Kimi is going to Williams.

Based on that we could have:

Kimi to Williams
Rosberg to McLaren
Hamilton to Ferrari

It'll never happen of course!

I've heard a rumour that Kimi is going to a bar.

Based on that we could have:

Kimi to a bar
Rosberg to a hair salon
Hamilton to the English cricket team.

It'll never happen of course!

Seriously though I think Ferrari may try to offload Kimi, but really they need a complete restructure to be very competitive. The fastest teams right now are Brawn and Toyota, so who's to say it won't be Kubica to Toyota in 2010? Or if Button grabs the WDC who's to say another team may give him a shot? :drunk:

Really no one knows what team will be successful in the short term, but a long term move to Ferrari of McLaren would be wise. However do any of the drivers have the patience.

I've never seen Kovi going 'quick'. I can't remember a single instance where he's been 'flying' in any car.

He's like Barrichello, only less consistent.

This is your opinion.
Many people think different.

Not only in this lying subject, IMO Lewis has always been a driver who wants to win at any costs. This has been experimented not only by Fernando, but when Heikki was complaining last year about unequal treatment he said:

"Lewis is an aggressive and an uncompromising driver, whose reactions can be fierce. And at times they have been excessive"

He is very ambitious and this can be a trademark of a champion. But I see him as pretty arrogant and selfish, and I think he is not a teamplayer as he was pretending last week at all.

He caused problem after problem to pressure his own team against Alonso. The 1st problem was Monaco, with his "I have #2 car and I am a second driver inside the team" he got the whole british media putting pressure against his godfather: Ron Dennis, after Alonso and him did a 1-2 in Monaco. He triggered a FIA investigation against his own team that lead to nothing.

In Hungary it was even worse:
- He desobeyed his team orders 6 times. His refusing to honour a team agreement and repeated requests to allow Alonso past during the fuel-burning phase of final qualifying, was in stark contrast to his carefully-crafted image as the gushing and eternally grateful rookie content to be 'living the dream'.
- He got the extra lap when it was Alonso's turn after Silverstone.

"In this instance, it was Fernando's time to get the advantage of the longer fuel burn," Dennis said. "The arrangement was, OK, we're down at the end of the pitlane, we reverse positions in the first lap. That didn't occur as arranged. That was somewhat disappointing and caused some tensions on the pitwall. We were, from that moment on, out of sequence because the cars were in the wrong place on the circuit and that unfolded into the pitstops."

- Hamilton insulted and threatened his team principal by radio.
-Alonso made his own justice.
-He and his father Anthony reacted accusing his own team to FIA again.
- FIA penalized, for 1st time in Formula 1 history a strictly internal behaviour inside a team. Criticised by many, among them Lauda, Nigel Roebuck, etc. Fernando, who was pole, got five-place penalty in the grid.

Not to mention Lewis horrible quotes till the end of the year while Alonso kept his mouth shut like:

Hamilton hopes Alonso leaves McLaren
Alonso not loyal to McLaren
McLaren know who to support, etc

Hamilton and Kubica at Mclaren? Sure, Whitmarsh is totally going to aim at this after not having a clear no.1 costed them WDC in 2007.

He was definitely flying in both Indianapolis and Fuji in 2007.

I think right now he's probably the most under-rated driver in the grid, although it's understandable as he's in a very bad patch after a poor late 2008 and now starting the season with 2 crashes of his own fault.

It is. Alonso did not answer at all the stupid declarations that Lewis was doing in Japan, China, etc.
