My guess is an Ashley which would probably used an 1172 cc Ford engine.

Its a 60s Kit car, an Ashley Typhoon comes to mind. The bodyshell was sold by Super Accessories of Bromley, amongst others and usually found its way onto a Ford 8 or 10 hp Chassis.

Thanks Eskimut for displaying my photo.

Leigh, you are spot on, it's an Ashley Sportiva 1962. Rego 6999MU. body made by Ashley Laminates at Loughton, Essex

Ianselva, Only half right, the Typhoon was made by Tornado at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

Leigh, do you have the complete Ashley advert, I would like to put it on my website if so.

Thanks all.

IKOS I have emailed you a copy of the ad, I suggest that you type 'Reliant Sabre or Reliant Scimitar pictures' into Search BB. There is a photo of an old Ashley body that I owned some time back.

Those were the days, in the '60s you actually saw quite a lot of kit cars about . Usually an exotic Italian looking body placed over Ford Ten chassis and running gear . But to a small boy they looked really exciting.
the days when a lot of men could actually complete these sort of projects on their own in a home garage.

My brother has a 1955 (or thereabouts) issue of Practical Motoring wherein the main feature explains how to build your own caravan! :D

Thanks Leigh for the Ashley Ad, looked at your photo of the Ashley body, as I said the back end looks like an Ashley 1172, but the front is all wrong so maybe from some other Fibreglass body.

Twin Window, strange you mention about the "issue of Practical Motoring wherein the main feature explains how to build your own caravan!" my dad did that exact thing in the front garden of the house shown in the original photo of my car around that time.

Built in the space between the flat 3 pane window and the front hedge, don't know if he used those plans from Practical Motoring, maybe if you can post the plan on here I can let you know if it was the same one, it was a 4 berth.

Had many great summer holidays in it at the beach at Clacton with the family, Dad also let it out to people so he made a bit of extra income as well.

Super Accessories...............I'm off into a wonderworld of nostalgia! The times I went there to buy bits for my Ruby, in an effort to be faster than the rich kid down the road whose Mum had bought him a Mini....

Sorry....derail.....I'll go!!!

Does anyone have photo's or Adverts of an Ashley hardtop for a Sunbeam Alpine.

I have been asked for info by a visitor to my website: http://www.ashleyspo...a.zoomshare.com and need some help as I have no knowledge of such a hardtop.

Thanks for anything you can provide.
