Mille Miglia retrospective May 2009

Having just watched Saturday Kitchen on BBC 1 hosted by chef James Martin ( which it has to be said he does very well ) it reminded me of the TV programme featuring his exploits in the 2008 Mille Miglia retrospective in an Maserati .
You may remember the film of 1 hour went out over Christmas had something like 4 M viewers in UK and was most interesting despite what appeared to most of us at the time some rather misleading narration.
We had a quite long running thread at the time , now closed.

He vowed on screen at the end of last years event that he would return with the same car next year (2009) and this time complete the course.
So I wonder if we have anyone reading who knows it that is to be the case as the event is now 2 weeks away and indeed whether a follow up TV film is to be made of his efforts this time ?


2009 Mille Miglia May 13th - 17th

I do see the Jaguar Heritage Trust are sending a longnose D Type four C-Types and a Mark 7 to do the run.


"The Jaguar Heritage Trust is bringing out a fleet of some of its most iconic classics, including a long-nose D-Type the C-Type which raced the 1953 Mille Miglia, plus three more vintage C-Types and a Mark VII saloon. Jaguar will also be sending a fleet of new XKRs and XFRs to support the event, but classic Jag racing lovers will undoubtedly be looking forward just as much to seeing Norman Dewis, the legendary Jaguar factory test driver who co-drove with Stirling Moss at the event in 1952. Altogether an impressive array of classic Jaguar workhorses to celebrate the marque's heritage."

Shame that the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust don't seem able to spell 'Stirling' in their press release.

That link does not seem to be the entry list Vince.

Clearly with teams of factory Mercedes and Jaguars this year, this event is going to be quite a spectacle.

I hope it is all going to be filmed.

I wonder if we have anyone reading who is going either to be involved or to spectate ?
