Lads, I will be visiting Washington DC next weekend (flying out of the UK on Friday) and will be attending a Bruce Springsteen gig on Monday evening. Was just wondering if there is any motorsport related stuff to go and see on the Saturday/Sunday. Any ideas?

As far as top category NASCAR is concerned, too late for Richmond and too early for Dover (the closest races to DC) but Charlotte "sprint" race is not all that long a drive away.

Not exactly motorsport, but if you like airplanes the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center on Dulles Airport is mind-blowing (http://www.nasm.si.edu/UdvarHazy/). And while you're there, you could always catch Star Trek in IMAX (3 shows a day through mid-June). The A&S museum on the Mall is great too, if you've never been there.

Yes indeed, as already thinking of the Smithsonian already, it looks a huge exhibtion/museum.

There are some race cars on display at Smithsonian Technology and Science Museum. Might call ahead, displays change.

The SCCA DC region National races are this weekend at Summit Point Raceway. For a bit further drive to the north, the Carlisle Import and Kit Car show will also be going on. It is one of the big east coast car shows and autojumbles. For the more adventurous TNFer, there are plenty of threads on the forum about locating Marlboro raceway.
Beyond that, another vote for the Smithsonian Air and Space Udvar Hazy museum. This is the facility out by Dulles Airport, and not the one downtown.
