Son, it's a good thing you travel, because you live on the end of the earth.

On the other side of the pond here, will be in Indy for the race - still I wanted to throw in my  A great idea that should make for a fun day. It would be a lot of fun to watch F1 regularly with a group of fellow enthusiasts. For that matter, IndyCar too! The only thing around here on the television in bar settings is NASCAR. Have a great time and I hope you have a respectable turnout.

Up past sunset doing Monaco GP stuff, quick break to check in at Indy, then to bed early since I am also doing Autosport's paper version on Monday, and that is one of the most difficult press days of the year since everyone is racing this weekend

But I dream of the day I can celebrate Memorial Day Weekend, and the gateway to summer, on this fine isle with the mother of all Motorsport BBQ's. And I don't mean upside down in the short-chute with a leaking fuel cell. Though Indy 2016 is on my mind...

Oh I definitely preferred this weekend in America. It was much more better timed for a full day. In the UK it doesn't kick off until 1pm with Monaco.

Hell I discovered F1 by accident one Indy Sunday because I was so impatient waiting for the 500 I was flipping channels and found the last 10 laps of the Grand Prix. And thought "what the hell is a Renault".

Great idea Jp.

I will be at the CDT for Monaco GP but then Indy 500 doesnt start until 3-4am Monday morning our time, so ive organised a day off, will have lots of bacon, eggs and coffee for Indy and go right through until about 2pm Monday when Coke 600 will finish.

I wish we could get the CDT to stay open all night, i just dont think i can drink enough to make it worth their while!

Before this sinks like a stone...

The landlord has asked me for a "bump"
(Not the rock and roll type but one of the marketing kind)

Just like the Brickyard...

If things actually start kicking off there maybe I will post on a Play by Play account of the silliness that transpires right here.

Sure would love to join you. As for ghosts at the Brickyard... here is a recollection i posted in 1994.

http://forums.autosp...w...iser&st=280

I remember going over to the garage area with a friend, former mechanic on my own team who was on the Newman Haas team the night before the 500. It was 3 AM. Nobody was supposed to be in the garage area. We pulled up to the gate in the Budweiser team van and told the guard we needed to check if a generator was tuned off. He said we could not go in. Then he said, "Do you have a hat?" We gave him some Bud and a hat and some stickers, he let us in. My friend and I walked through the rows of garages, just us. It was dead quiet. Off in the distance we could hear the fans, the firecrackers. But it was silent where we were. We walked along in silence ourselves. I swear there were ghosts of the past, not haunting us, welcoming us. It was spine chilling. Corny but true. We were overwhelmed. Finally my friend spoke. He said, "Can you believe this? Just us man. We made it! This is Indy and we are here!" I said "You are man. You made it. I am just along for the ride." He said, "If it hadn't been for you, neither of us would be here. You made it too." We both had tears in our eyes and we were both tough dudes.

Ask for Roy or Ian behind the bar.
