It wasn't meant to happen, that was until Ferrari gave in to Willi Weber's demands. Weber and Schumacher would only sign to drive for the remainder of the season if Michael had the same terms he enjoyed before he retired. Simply put, the focus of the team for the remaining 7 races will centre on Michael. As Weber told the press "Ferrari had nothing to lose". You can see his point, Kimi Raikkonen is out of the title race, it is even uncertain if he will be driving for Ferrari next year. The 2009 season has been a write-off for the Scuderia thus far; they have not won a single race and look unlikely to win for the remainder of the season.
The interesting part is how Raikkonen handles this new situation. It is certainly unfair on him to have another driver take the main focus of the team, which is different to how he operated with Massa, but his lacklustre performances have certainly not made Ferrari’s decision difficult. Kimi’s manager, David Robertson, made it clear in 2006 that Schumacher‘s conditions were the stumbling block to Kimi driving with Schumacher at Ferrari in 2007. The latest news makes it difficult to see Kimi driving anything but a rally car in 2010, preceding a large payout from Ferrari for the last year of his contract.

Mansell didn't race in f1 from 1992 - 1994, two years, he came back at age 41, got pole position and won the race. Not bad for a fat out of shape 41 year old Mansell.

Not really.
Alan Henry is a decent F1 scribe. Kimi is out at the end of the year, is demotivated and performing badly. To concentrate on Schumacher once again will give the new era Ferrari a massive moral boost.
This move is as much about team moral as it is about filling in for an injured Massa.

Doesn't work. The whole idea of a new era Ferrari was to separate itself from Schumacher and co. It has moved on, won WDC's and WCC's on it's own and the only reason MS is in the Ferrari now is that there are no better options, be it commercially or on the track.

Funny how people get excited about seeing MS vs Hammy or MS vs Vettel. Dudes, Ferrari is no match for those cars, and Schumi knows it. He's back for one reason and one reason only. At the end of the day, if Kimi doesn't absolutely wipe the floor with Michael Schumacher given the multitude of advantages he has over the 40 year old former champion, it will just prove what many have suspected for years about Kimi: wrong guy, right place, right time.

He qualified well but was not in shape to push the whole race and that was after being in CART for the 2 years he was out of F1. His race win was after Hill and MS crashed and after he had been blown off by both.
Hill, who does not get the credit he deserves, blew Mansell away every race they competed together.
If Schumacher comes in and does substantually better than Kimi, it would be very impressive and I am far from his (schumacher) biggest fan.

1992 - Dominated and went on to win his F1 WDC deservedly.

of course Kimi will be degraded by team schumacher now. Poor duude, he has had been sabotaged by Schumacher for several seasons now, and now Michael also takes at all.... again, like he always did....
I am 100% certain Kimi will get lesser material and lesser suport from the team, and will get the lesser strategy's plus he will be asked to let MS pass in the races to come .... mark these words.
