OK folks. The season's more than half over and I wondered what you all think of the look of the 2009 cars now you've had a chance to live with them for awhile. Personally I still think they look terrible!

The Red Bulls do look nice. I suppose I've gotten used to them. The Renault and BMW are still ugly though.

Depends on the viewpoint.

Side on isn't too bad but the front view of that awful, awful front wing? Terrible - it makes the car look like a fecking snowplough.

As long as I don't think about it too hard, I don't mind them. Every now and again though, my WORD, they remind me how stupid they look.

I've become used to it for the majority of cars. However, the BMW and Renault are still pigs.

If the rear wing were as wide as last year, but smaller (similar to Monza spec) the cars would look better balanced in my opinion.

Lewis crossing the line in Hungary is my background on both my desktop and Lappy, replacing the FW31... so yeah, I got used to it after about 2 minutes of looking at the first launched car.

I think most of the cars are a huge improvement on recent years. Right back to the first launches the cars looked alright really and by the time of the first sessions in Australia, I was won over by them. As others have said, the Renault and BMW are the only cars letting the grid down... still painfully ugly despite a couple of facelifts for the BMW. The Red Bull was a great looking car from the moment it was launched.

I thought I liked the new cars and had got used to them, but then I looked at some pictures of 07 and 08 cars and there is no contest. It's the size of the wings that's the problem.

I will never get used to the BMW car, as far as I m concerned the paint scheme just makes this car one of the ugliest I 've ever seen.

No, they still look butt ugly. And overtaking is no better. Brilliant.

I agree that all the little aerodynamic apendages should have been shaved off, but not the giant front wing and Ikea bookcase at the back.

In a word, no.

I prefer the look of the GP2 cars and the Indy cars tbh...

+1

But the RB5 is by far the best looking of the 09 cars...

Got used to them, but not really bothered how they look. I tune in to watch cars go racing, I don't tune in to judge a racing car beauty contest.

Brawn the plain jane but ok
Red Bull looks good, sometimes the platypus nose stands out.
Ferrari and Mclaren look good.
Dont see much of BMW.

I find the Brawn one of the worst offenders in the head on ugliness stakes. The dayglo yellow nose in conjunction with the dayglo bits on the wing endplates just emphasises how bloody wide the front wing really is. The piddly little rear wing just makes the front wing look even bigger - the rest of the car looks like it's hiding behind in shame. On the other hand, I really like the sculpted sidepods and the clean look of the 'no fiddly aero bits' bodywork. They can't get rid of the wheel covers fast enough as far as I'm concerned as they look like some Boy Racer after-market stick-on go-faster crap.

Hard to say, I prefer the lack of winglets, etc. The fornt wing was never a problem for me, but the rear wing still looks a bit too narrow.

Steve.

To answer the thread title; yes, but I don't like it. When rumours of Schumacher's return appeared on various websites, many included an image of one of his last outings, and I was once again convinced the dimensions of the 2008 wings are much more to my preference.

But by god - the rear wings now look so bloody wide!

...and the front wing so narrow. Shame we couldn't have the wide rear wings with the wide front wing eh?

Not enough options. My answer "I am used to the new look, don't like the proportions but do like cleaner look - the lack of silly wings/projections"

Got used to it. Would still look better with 08 spec rear wing.

Front wings are ugly (not because of width!). More trimming of dangly bits is needed, including wheel covers.

I still can't stand them, the Renault and BMW are the worst offenders, followed by the Red Bull (How can anyone say it is beautiful?) and the Force India.

I quite like the Williams and McLaren ones out of any of them, but they're still not very nice.

Still butt-ugly. 09 spec will never please my eye.

I liked the RB3 and the RB4. Also the spec Ferrari ran at Barcelona in April 08 with slicks and without bargeboards looked really nice.

The rear wing doesn't look bad to me now, but I don't think I'll ever get used to the extra width of the front wings.

Well used to them, as I knew I would be. Probably forgot about the old shape by the second race. They did look, ugly?, no just odd, at first. But the first Ferrari and Red Bull pics out were beautiful. Sauber was butt ugly I guess. 08 cars look weird now. So wide and flat looking

Cheers for that Scotracer - 09 car with wider rear wing looks soooo much better...
