The press conference will be hosted by Dr. Norbert Reithofer, the chairman of the BMW board, Dr. Klaus Draeger, the director for development, and Dr. Mario Theissen, BMW motorsport director.

If so do their meetings look like THIS?

You asking about those from video? Dunno, I just looked for closer example of all doctors meeting. Though judging on their decisions some of them may belong to BMW.

Look at it this way; who would you trust more if they asked you to bend over, a doctor or Max?

That's just a German perversion. I think most Germans are doctors. :)

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with anything related to medicine but with the fact they've all received a doctoral degree from their university.

Well, 2 obviously - and one to lie through his teeth and claim he understands.

So it's Herr Doktors: 1 win Garagistes (like Jack Brabham and Ron Dennis) one hell of a lot.

Germany gives engineers far more respect than anywhere else. The phrase Dr for a PHD qualified engineer is simply a matter of respect.

They all probably have a doctorate (i.e. PHD) in science so are entitled to place Dr before their name. You will probably find that most top engineers all have doctorate's but it's just not common in most countries for an engineer to place Dr before their names.

Sorry to do this, but for some reason the thread title brought back one of Basil Fawlty's classic scenes.

Basil: How do you do doctor. Very nice to have you with us, doctor.
Dr (Mr) Abbott: Thank You.
Basil: And Mrs Abbott, how do you do.
Dr (Mr) Abbott: Dr Abbott, actually.
Basil: …I’m sorry?
Dr (Mr) Abbott: Doctor Abbott.
Dr (Mrs) Abbott: Two doctors.
Basil: (to Mr Abbott) You’re two doctors?
Dr (Mrs) Abbott: Yes.
Basil: Well, how did you become two doctors? That’s most unusual…I mean, did you take the exams twice, or…?
Dr (Mr) Abbott: No, my wife’s a doctor…
Dr (Mrs) Abbott: …I’m a doctor.
Basil: You’re a doctor too! So you’re three doctors.
Dr (Mr) Abbott: No, I’m a doctor. My wife’s another doctor.

Most of my German chums studied until they were in their early 30s, amassing various masters and pHDs and the like.

But how about the fourth man at that press conference, the amazingly named Maximilian Schoberl.
