Just read in today's Autosport that Interlagos is to have a pits upgrade. Apparently, there are two options: either upgrade the existing facilities, or build a new pit lane on the back straight, making Descida do Lago the new first corner. Does anyone have any further information?

Year after year the teams complain about lack of space on the boxes, FOM threatens the track administration and it's revealed that there are studies about what to do.
The problem is money and the deactivation of track for a long period of time. Mind you, people is talking about 6 months for the changes at Curva do Café!
Some time ago I've seen a plan to retrofit the back of the current boxes to add some more room but it looks like it wasn't possible or viable.
Currently at Reta Oposta (back straight) some temporary stands are placed over the "Retão" of the old layout.
The Kart track is behind it, so if a new pit complex is to be constructed it mus be on the inside the circuit (as it should always be). The problem is that on the left side (inside the track) the terrain is quite irregular and it may be a problem to build it there.
View from the back straight, pit lane exit is visible.
However, this option (building a new pit complex) would allow the track to still be used while the modifications are made.
If the rebuild of current pit lane were possible to do on the same space of time that the Curva do Café changes is believed to take, this would be the better opportunity to do that.
Or... not host F1 for one season.
[Video]: on board lap at Interlagos
Btw, here is the plan for the proposed changes at Curva do Café.
Edit: Damn, I should have done as AirWebber () and have read TotalRace first just like every other day. Thanks for the link anyway!

If it's true then it's another unique start/finish that goes away. I hope they manage to squeeze the modifications they need in the upgrade option.Just read in today's Autosport that Interlagos is to have a pits upgrade. It would be a shame to lose the current start-finish straight, as I think the current first corner (and the gradient of the grid itself) is amongst the best of the current venues.

The cost is around Euro 800.000/season - WSR. A piss in the ocean for a medium sized company. correiodopovo.com.br
I hope Brazil and Brazilian companies not ignore this talented young driver as can be their next Formula one driver IF they help him, sponsor him and give him time to develope as a racing driver. It really pisses me of if no one help him with sponsors !

Pizzonia had his own choice words to say about Webber and Jaguar, especially when he subbed for Ralf in 2004.

Debuting a Renault at legendary Spa in a rainy weekend... Wow, great pressure and great opportunities as the rain equalize in some way the "car" difference.
Imagine the hype if he manage to finish 6th.
Let's hope his learning curve is incredibly fast. Petrov is a "paid driver" that just sent the "team leader" home.

Guys, what about Felipe Nasr? Does he have what it takes?
I think so. He seems to be our best future F1 driver right now. He's dominated F3 this year, over 100 points ahead of his teammate. I saw some replays and he seems to be very cool and smart, Prost style. Hope he does well in WSR or GP2 next year. It's weird that we haven't heard about any contract yet, right?

If he was set to keep driving for Carlin, Wickens or Vergne would have to move on first. It's weird that we haven't heard about any contract yet, right?
and this seat would be also disputed by Huertas and Magnussen.
I believe his manager may still negotiating this path, however I think he may arrive at another team on WSR.

Can any Brazilian tell whether there's an equivalent word for 'Scuderia' etc. in Portuguese? In Italian there's Scuderia like Scuderia Ferrari. In English there's Team or Racing like Team Lotus or Virgin Racing. In French there's Equipe like Equipe Ligier. Is there an equivalent for those in Portuguese that racing teams use in their names? I'd need that 'coz I'm making a Brazilian livery, you'll see it later in Create the Livery thread.
"Equipe", but "Escuderia" or "Time" would also be OK, I think

Funny enough, you'd have all this options, as those became loanwords.
Time, escuderia and equipe would all be possible.
Escuderia would be more related to motorsports and equestrianism. IIRC, Fittipaldi used it occasionally. This word is also related more to proper names.
The more common substantive would be equipe, that's how we Brazilians would refer to a F1 Team, instead of calling it a time (team) (something perfectly possible on our language) we're more used to called it a equipe. But besides working perfectly it's not sound as escuderia nor have a clearly motorsport link as the later.
Time would hardly be used on name, it's common as a substantive but it's more related to other sports like football.
You should also notice that a Brazilian team would almost certainly adopt an English name.
It would be more feasible to have a XYZ F1 Team than an Escuderia XYZ.
XYZ Racing is quite popular as a team name.

Well, it was a fantasy livery, so I wanted to use Portuguese name. This is getting a bit OT, but it'd be nice to have more teams with non-English names. Obviously "F1™ Team" is quite valuable in team name, as it clearly indicates that this is not whatever team, this is an F1™ Team, so teams want to adopt that name. But I think that e.g. HRT would have more character if they were called Escuderia Hispania.

By the way, this gave me a good idea, a question to interested forum members:
What's is/was the best Brazilian sponsored livery on open wheel racing history?
I liked Brawn GP's Brazil '09 livery, even though it wasn't the most solid livery. The Itaipava and (non-Brazilian) Mapfre ads despite being red, didn't spoil the livery, but brought some colour to mainly white car. The yellow Banco do Brasil ads didn't suit with the green-yellow of the car, but I didn't care. After all, it was nice that there was a special livery when Rubinho started his home race on pole and when Jenson and Brawn GP secured world titles.

My favorite variation too.
For some reason even the bizarre yellow with dayglo combo worked some how.
A curiosity about this livery is that Banco do Brasil didn't pay for it, it was all done on Mapfre money. Both were 'celebrating' a partnership for auto insurance that year.
Hollywood cigarettes livery for champcar with Moreno and Kanaan is one of my favorites.
Forti Corse raced in 95 covered with Brazilian sponsors.
I personally enjoy Bia Figueiredo (Ana Beatriz) Ipiranga's colors at Indycar.
More from AOW, Raul Boesel with his #1 Brahma sponsored car.
And of course:
From the Copersucar, I've was prefered those yellow variations.
Skoll Fittipaldi
Also, some of Petrobras F3000 efforts:
Piquet Sports at GP2 also had some nice years:
Also Xandinho Negrão at WSR:
Edit:
How could I haven't included this....

That livery had a nice homemade look, highlighting BGP's position as privateer. It wasn't a carefully considered livery, instead ads were added when new sponsors appeared. And yeah, it almost felt as if Brazilian GP was BGP's home race, as there was a Brazilian driving for them with Brazilian or Latin American sponsors. So my reasons to why I liked that livery were mainly emotional. Those other liveries were new for me except that Forti Corse. Yellow liveries are always distinctive and that was one reason why I replaced my second entry in Create The Livery Competition with the Brazil livery. And Felipe Nasr's Brazil livery you posted on the comp's thread looked great.
As I was talking about the team names, I didn't like the fact that teams use too often English names. But I like that Brazilian GP is Grande Prêmio do Brasil, as well as there's Großer Preis von Deutschland and even Magyar Nagydíj. One of my wildest dreams would be Suomen Suurpalkinto or something like that. (i.e. Grande Prêmio da Finlândia, hopefully I wrote that right).

That was that path that Sauber and HRT should have followed for their liveries. 2009 was a season with lots of white painting on the cars, but this BGP was, imo, more stunning than Toyota for instance never was. That livery had a nice homemade look, highlighting BGP's position as privateer. We're definitely lacking a yellowish team on the field. Those other liveries were new for me except that Forti Corse.
