Hopefully he doesn't get "buried" in US series like some drivers who are considered to be talented. JPM seems to be the last driver who came from a US series to F1 and had success. And Bourdais is obviously the last driver who came from US to F1, and how many CCWS titles did he need to win before getting an F1 seat.

AFAIK, Nasr (alongside Foresti and Cunha) is aiming a WSR seat for next season.
His is competing at Grand-An theis weekend as a prize for winning the British F3 this year.

Anyway, a seat at a series like ALMS is something far from being buried. It's not what he's aiming, but this wouldn't be like some kind of dishonor.

Nasr is probably the only brazilian driver in the ladder at the moment that I really rate, would be a shame to see him diverted into sportscars even before he's given any sort of chance. Seems bizarre that he'd consider this already after winning a F3 title, lack of money perhaps? :well:

As highdownforce said, he's obviously trying to get into WSR. So, Grand-Am is just a one-off prize race.

This past weekend we had the 500 Miles Kart race at Kártodromo Beto Carreiro with the presence of many professional kart racers including Brazilian F1 drivers and drivers from other series as well.

After the 12h race, Team Fittipaldi kart #2, shared by Christian Fittipaldi, Vitor Meira, Jonathan Louis, Roger Rieger, Giorgio Ramos, Gabriel Dias and César Ramos took the victory by only 3 seconds after a long lead of Team Caras/Head&Shoulders (Rubens Barrichello, Tony Kanaan, Felipe Giaffone, Rafael Suzuki, Augusto Farfus Jr. and Carlos Barrichello).

Thank you Highdownforce!!

You're welcomed!
Official announcements were too late this year, and we still don't have a schedule for the SRO GT3-GT4 series.

I'm very curious about how Top Series (Auto+ and Band) and GT Brasil (SRO-LA and SporTV) will get along during this season.
I'm particularly interested on how GT3 will develop without its former promoters and with an official BMW Team. However I most say that on the TopSeries front the sight of MetalMoro's prototypes is very much welcomed. I've always imagined how these cars would develop with proper sponsorship (I hope the can get it this time). Anyway, I'm still waiting the release of the technical regs for the endurance series just to see what sort of things will be allowed on the prototype classes.

F3 Sudam is another series that I hope see improved this year with rumored four races in Argentina and with local teams.

As Always as soon as I've got something interesting, I'll bring it to here.

Is there any news about F3 Sudam in Brazil? Its website still sucks and there's zero talking in Argentina about the supposed Argentine teams and drivers being backed up by Top Race. Last year they said there will be up to 10 Argentine drivers for 2012. Gabriel Furlán's team was supposed to return. But so far, if there's been some advance, they are working on it pretty silently. When is the championship beginning?

I was going to ask this on the STC 2000 thread.. lately I've heard nothing of it.
AFAIK, not even a calendar yet. F3 used to couple with the Copa Petrobras de Marcas, so I believe we'll going to see them at some of those events.

Or maybe they'll join GT3 that still unheard too. Things are very secretive/slow this season.

The past weekend it was the first round of the 2012 Top Race championships and it was announced that 8 F3 Dallaras will be arriving soon to Argentina and that they will be run by GF Racing (4 times F3 Sudam champion Gabriel Furlán's team) and Schick Racing in this year's F3 Sudam. Both are Top Race teams right now (GF has works support from Mitsubishi) and are being supported by this series into F3 Sudam. Both Top Race and F3 will share several rounds.

Thanks ezequiel!

Tow questions:

- Do you know which rounds will be shared?
- Are those chassis new F3 spec? Brazilian teams use old spec F3.

Interesting bits:

GF may be working together with Officer Pro and Serra Motorsport in the Copa Petrobras de Marcas, both teams will be running Mitsubishi Lancers this season, and at their PR it was disclosed that their cars was based on the Top Race cars.

Unrelated, but here a two videos from GT3 and GT4 BMW Team Brasil:

Thanks ezequiel!

Tow questions:

- Do you know which rounds will be shared?
- Are those chassis new F3 spec? Brazilian teams use old spec F3.

Interesting bits:

GF may be working together with Officer Pro and Serra Motorsport in the Copa Petrobras de Marcas, both teams will be running Mitsubishi Lancers this season, and at their PR it was disclosed that their cars was based on the Top Race cars.

I'm afraid nothing was said about the rounds or the type of chassis.

Is Pedro Boesel related to Raul Boesel?

Pedro is Raul's nephew. [ old pic ]
Pedro's brother, Lu Boesel races on Copa Montana.

I'm afraid nothing was said about the rounds or the type of chassis.

No problem, thanks anyway!

Thanks! It's nice to see members of the Serra and Boesel families competing against each other on track once again, although hopefully it won't get quite as bad as this.

That's Valdeno Brito, two times GT3 champion with AH Competições Ford GT and also main contender for this season championship.

I've found this picture this interesting picture comparing the Stock Car's chassis and the DTM [ link ]

The car car was always supposed to be low cost that's why you won't find carbon fiber in it.

Fórmula Future to be canceled!
MAssa's family backed Brazilian junior formula, based on the the Italian Formula Abarth is set to be canceled.
The series that had run together with Trofeo Linea (now to be called Copa Linea) on Fiat Brasil backed Racing Festival should announce on the next days its dismiss.
The series run with 12 cars last season and was a cheaper option for newcomers to jump from karts to formula cars.

Brazil now has as a formula national championship only F3 Sudam, but the South American series rumored to have more Argentinian involvement this season hasn't presented a race calendar yet(starts on May and ends on December), and there is no confirmation of teams and drivers attending it.

Might that have anything with Massa's Ferrari (FIAT) future?

Maybe yes, maybe not...

The series were having problem to attract drivers and the whole festival format suffered some blows: Shell dropped its sponsorship deal and drivers from Copa Fiat were moving to the Brasileiro de Marcas (Copa Petrobras).

All of this for a series that gets TV coverage from the main tv channel.

This year Copa Fiat cars were upgraded but IMO the natural thing would be for them to join Copa Petrobras series.

Alex Barros's R1 1000 GP series will follow Copa Linea.

UPDATE: Series Promoter Carlinhos Romagnolli declared that the series was canceled for damage limitation, as there where considerable financial losses due the investment made and the lack of interested drivers in joining the series.

It's claimed by journalists covering Brazilian kart scene that Formula Futuro (contrary to the defunct Formula Renault Brasil) started its works in a moment which the kart scene was very weak, that meaning that there weren't many drivers with enough backing to make the step to formula cars.

Finally, some definitions about F3 Sudam.

The championship will be promoted and organized by Vicar (Carlos Col), same promoter of Copa Petrobras de Marcas and Copa Caixa Stock Car Brasil.
The series will share the weekends with Copa Petrobras de Marcas and there are discussions for Petrobras being its main sponsor.
For 2013, F3 Sudam will be divided in two different championships: F3 Sudam and F3 Brasil. F3 Brasil points score will be awarded for every race in Brazilian soil.

The talks with the Argentinian Top Race V6 teams haven't evolved and so no non-Brazilian team (or driver) will race on the 2012. Also, there are no talks with Argentinians teams for 2013. It's not defined if F3 Sudam will have rounds in Uruguay or Argentina for 2013.

Without Fiat Fórmula Futuro, Vicar plans to create a Brazilian driver academy coupled with F3 Brasil as an effort to attract young drivers to race in the Brazilian series before joining British F3. This program would lead to one driver being awarded sponsorship for entering British F3 with the support of Petrobas. Whoever, despite being interested on the subject, Petrobras hasn't agreed to this plans yet.

Why? Did he write something negative about Felipe in the Estadao?

What I found and read was his speculation on the Ferrari x Kimi rumor. Ok, he didn't mention Felipe not even by name, just stating that Ferrari is looking for a pilot for 2013 which is true as they did not take up on the option in Felipe's contract.

Do you think he should not have written about it? Looking at the story it's not different from what e.g. James Allen wrote on his blog just now...

James Allen wrote on his blog just now...

are you talking about this?

Yeah, that's the one I found. Don't know whether if it is the reason for saudoso's outburst or not.

Yesterday he was saying FM had overstayed his welcome from the sunday race.

In fact I used to follow him regularly until he started like this, I don't quite remember, last year? Or the year before?

Not that I think FM is doing that great, but sometimes it does seem someone took his candy. And this time it's two jabs sitting at the web site home page in following days.

There's a report in this week's Autosport concerning the opening of a new circuit called "Velo Citta", located in Mogi Guaçu, north of São Paulo. It is 2.1 miles long, consists of 13 corners and has already hosted a round of the Brazilian Porsche GT3 Cup (the cars averaged 78 mph around the circuit). The design features input from Gil de Ferran and Ingo Hoffmann, and includes a sequence reminiscent of Laguna Seca's Corkscrew.

The circuit is owned by Edoardo Souza Ramos, who is Brazil's Mitsubishi importer. Thus most non-racing activities at the circuit will focus on the testing of Mitsubishi products and driving experiences. There are currently three garages, which are being expanded to 20, but no permanent stands, although these may be constructed in the future.

Looking at formula1.com I'm seeing that US GP will be at 17:00 (brazilian time). Does anyone knows if Globo will broadcast it instead of football? (i guess no, since next week will probably be the one when fluminense gets the title, but ...)

I can just say that during the last four years Globo has always broadcasted the race and qualifying live on their main channel. I mean if my memory serves me right that is!

Also it's a great opportunity to push football to their pay channels and having everyone curse F1 is it not? ;-)

If Fluminense doesn't win today, it's certain that Globo won't show the race live.
There was a discussion about showing the race on SporTV but it would have to be on tape delay.

You better send good vibrations for the Tricolor.
