Hello

I'm looking for a picture of an F1 clean room

Preferably Ferrari's with a few mechanics seen tinkering

Or one from any other team

Have searched on Google and MSN but I can't find anything

Would appreciate any help

Thanks

Toyota have some factory images on their websites, they might have a clean room amongst them.

Will the Minardi carbon layup room work?

I don't recall it being a clean room per se but steps are definitely taken to keep particles out.

None of those are cleanrooms, Jim.

Ummm.
I didn't think that the teams had proper semiconductor-style (or spacecraft-assembly-style) clean rooms.

I thought that it was just the term being misused to refer to their restricted-access workshops, which are very very very clean indeed for a garage - but, compared to a semi fab, a bit gross.

That's correct. As soon as you use some WD40 or any spray can, you're out of cleanliness requirements, even in the old 100.000 class.

That is also correct. clean rooms don't exist in F1 manufacturing facilities as they do in say the Pharmaceutical industry (my industry). They may have clean environments but definitely not clean rooms in the strictest sense of the word. You don't see many F1 mechanics putting together engines in full clean room gowns with both under and over garments!

yep, i agree with that. You will find some depts make more of an effort to be cleaner, like hydraulics for example, but certainly not to the standard of a true clean room.

IMO the only clean rooms that would be needed in F1 are for engine assembly.

Didn't the F1 style rooms start off due to Ron Dennis being so anal about cleanliness and working perfectly and discipline, starting in the late 80s? I recall reading about Ron going ballistic if something is out of place. And other teams following suit?

none of those are cleanrooms though. The clean room is one step before the autoclave, it's where they lay the carbon fiber strips before curing them in the autoclave.

Those pictures are just clean garage areas :)
