Who are these people? Only info in 'Radio Times' 'The world's most popular historic race meeting'Do not raise our spirits, Craig Doyle and Natalie Pinkham - this sounds just like ITV's previous Goodwood offering. No doubt half of the programme will be devoted to fashion and the rest interviewing C and D list 'celebrities'.

I think Craig Doyle is the one who advetises some double glazing and Natalie Pinkham is ITVs mandatory airhead blonde they send to motor sport eventsWho are these people? Only info in 'Radio Times' 'The world's most popular historic race meeting'

Much better than nothing - why not watch "Masterchef" or "Who wants to be a millionaire" if it annoys so much?!
It is designed for the general public not chassis number buffs like myself and a lot of other TNFers
Like Condor, I shall also look forward to the programme

They normally have at least some racing action, which is worth seeing again. I'm hoping the Mini St Mary's Trophy will be shown, because they don't normally show much of the saloons.

Should be REALLY exciting.

Absolutely. The most spectacular drive in a 250F i've seen for years! Sensational four wheel drifts through Madgwick....as long as there's at least one shot of Frank Stippler showing how a 250F should be driven I'll be happy

Much better than nothing...
That's the way we should look at it, TV economics mean that everything has to be made to appeal to the widest possible audience, hence the non-expert presenters etc, and I bet they manage to fit in every single crash they filmed. It's disappointing for purists like us, but looking at it realistically, we're lucky to get anything at all, and at least Bruce Forsyth isn't presenting it.
On a completely different media tack, I have to share this one with you Scanning a newspaper website this morning, a headline caught my eye "Fiona Bruce as a cowgirl...". It was about some TV charity event, so of course, it didn't mean quite what I hoped it might, but we all have our fantasies...

From the name, and with nothing else to go on, I'd guessed he was a dog.

Even if I was a dog I still would not be watching mind freezing televison programmes such as 'Millionaire' or 'Masterchef' as previously suggested on this topic!
If you care to take a look at my 'introduce yourself' entry of January 21st January 2009 all will be revealed. And, if you look at the 'out yourself' topic entry for 16th April 2009 you will see why I chose my member name. She was a fabulous creature, sadly she died at the end of June and I still cannot get over the loss.
As for whether I have heard of those programmes, of course the answer is yes. Do I watch them, NO.

To remind folks it's on.
Thanks for the reminder - just going to set the recorder as I head out for a theatrical performance in the only extant WWII garrison theatre in the UK still in regular use. Nostalgia of a different kind.
And one can get to it (conveniently) only by boat.
Any guesses, anyone?

Hurst Castle?
Bang on. And I know this is way off topic - but if any of you are in the New Forest area and get the chance to go and see the Forest Forge production of Phineas Fogg Around the World in 80 Days (with a cast of no fewer than three!) GO AND SEE IT! brilliant.
Now... lI shall get back to the thread and read some reviews on the Revival show.

They had the same problem they have every year. Do they cover the event (fancy dress, tableaux, aircraft) or the racing? So they try and do both. They would do better to do two shows - One on the happening and one on the racing.
It's a shame that the coverage always focuses on the 'main' races. Personally I'd like to see more of the Formula Juniors, the small sports cars, the early fifties sports cars etc. rather than the E-Types vs GTOs, 250F's vs Dinos and GT40's vs Lola T70's.

However, too much time devoted to Minis
Never mind its only once in 50 yrs, Minis dont really get a look in otherwise, as the owner of a '65 Mini Minor I was proud as punch at the coverage.

V. impressed thus far - seen live, the Mini race was rather like watching paint dry - this edited version looks spectacular....!

I thought that the coverage of the Mini race was very well edited and kept the viewer's interest throughout.
I loved the fact that the end voiceover was run over the end piece by the two presenters so you couldn't hear what either was saying - brilliant!
I liked Buzz's reply to the interviewer when asked what he thought when he gazed up at the moon sitting outside on a nice evening with a beer in his hand.
"Been there, done that", he said.
Rob
Best quote just piping Stirling's rather incredulous take on the Renault situation.
I really enjoyed it, and compared to the Singapore GP (or any other GP come to that), it was wonderful to see 'real' racing at last.
Agreed. Mind you Goodwood does have the big advantage of being a proper racing circuit rather than an extended version of a mulitistory car park!
As for the overal coverage I would say 7 out of 10. All they need to do for future events is drop the dopy bird and get some smart young lady in who actually knows what a motor car is!

As the "feature" race (and the one with the most recognisable drivers; ex-F1, Indy, etc.), the TT has always had the most coverage in the TV programmes. When they used to show much of the Sunday live on TV in the south, the whole race was sometimes shown.
It's a bit like the ' "Grand Prix": the out-takes' thread - they must have had the cameras running all weekend, as they showed a flash of the white DB3S going through the polystyrene at the chicane which was on Friday IIRC; so there are hours of unseen footage, which we will have to buy the DVD to see just some of ........

i can not get this programme in germany, but would like to see it , as i was first time at this event and was blown away by this perfect organisation and the best event, i have ever visited.
For the best interviews and action over the weekend, don’t forget to watch on ITV4 Tuesday, 29th September, at 20:00hrs. If you think you might be out, then Sky+ it or record to view at your leisure!
For those unable to do either, the programme will be shown again on the following dates:
ITV1 – Thursday 1October at 01:30hrs (repeat)
ITV4 – Saturday 3 October at 15:00hrs (repeat)
