Hi, all,

A friend of mine, with fondness on slot car racing, likes modelling odd cars, wich once finished are displayed in the slot meetings.

So, he's working on a tiny Mazda dating back from 1960/61 and labelled as G360 Coupé.

Any info about this car would be welcome. Pictures, technical data, websites, etc.

Thank you all in advance.

It looks to me that, strange at it might sound, the car that your friend is trying to reconstruct is quite an odd one!
Actually, Mazda entered the car market in 1960 with a model called R-360, and yes, it was a very tiny coupé, rear engined, two cylinders in V -90- with an overall engine capacity of 356cc and refrigerated by air. It was said to produce 16 cv at 5,300 rpm and whilst max speed was quoted at 105 kmh, overall consumption was slightly over 3l-100 kms.
As Mazda took two more years to produce their second car, and this new one was a four-seater version of the original R-360 (called P-360) and those cars where the only ones with names similar to the one you quote, I am guessing, just guessing, that your friend might be making reference to the very first one.
Now, if that is the case, I have a picture of it, but as it looks to me as sporty as an easter egg, I will refrain from scanning it and posting until you tell me "that´s the one!".

Un abrazo

Felix Muelas

Thankyou, Felix,

After having a chat with my friend, he's sure this is the car he's modelling, so the picture would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

They managed to sell 23417 cars in 1960 alone of this "K-class" car.

Thankyou Felix -again- and rainern,

Really and odd car to be modelled for slot car racing. Makes me think in the likes of Goggomovils, Biscutters, Isettas and so.

And finishing with my requests, someone knows of any kind of sports participation of this car, strange as it may sound, maybe in rally, slalom, hillclimb...

Maybe Tomoko or another japanese friend?

Joking aside it is attractive.
