Iam trying to get some race videos from 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007 f1 seasons either to download LEGALLY or to buy but i cannot get them anywhere except from Torrents....which i don't want to use. I need high quality videos to fill my library's missing races.

Could a kind fellow please help me where to get them from? I have tried the F1 shop to no avail. Thanks alot

I don't know the law is Sweden, If I recorded it and would share it with you would that be illegal?

Yes, unless it is a gift as the Formula one management has the copyright. Do you know any vendor in your country who sells these videos? It is so frustrating that the F.O.M, does not seem to regard that fans might like to watch old races and there seems to be no easy mechanism to get them legally.

So if f.i. your neighbour copied the race and gives it to you it is legal? I don't know where to obtain it from stores.

If it is like one race and given as a gift without any financial reward, then i "think it is legal". I am grateful of your offer and i would like to do everything in a legal manner. I have been trying for several months to find lawful means of obtaining these races to no avail. I have even tried TV6 and Viasat here in sweden to no avail. I would appreciate if any forumer could direct me to where i can obtain legal copies of races in these years.

assuming the Swedish law doesn't differentiate between 'friends', 'neighbours' or 'random people on the internet', downloading it from the web could be legal!? Some posters here do record races, maybe they are willing to share, maybe that is legal enough? (I am no lawyer)

Unfortunately, due to the unique way FOM works, there is no such thing as full races on DVD for sale legally.

Can we please give Bernie/FOM some credit:

1. The races are dull as dishwater
2. There are no legal DVDs
3. There is no legal internet sources past or present to view F1 footage (excluding the BBC)
4. There is little in the way of mobile phone F1 clips
5. The races are hugely expensive to attend
6. F1 is usually in the news for political reasons rather than on track action
7. Traditional tracks with natural terrain and surroundings are being replaced by huge slabs of generally flat tarmac where some guy paints 'the track' onto.
8. The most technically advanced sport still is not broadcast in Hi Def yet darts and bowling are
9. The fans are shafted
10. Bernie is still loaded.

I apologise for going slightly of topic of the OP question but all the above are part of the bigger picture.

It is very unfortunate. I have met quite a few fans who would like to re-watch some interesting races from the past. Unfortunately the F.O.M, doesn't cater for people like us. It is not always possible to dub all the races and with all the copy-right issues you can't go the peer to peer routes. I have tried to watch some races on you-tube or such media but most of them are taken down due to FOM claims. I find this self defeating. They don't want you to watch through free media but at the same time they provide no legal way to access such races.

Iam sure most fans would love to own a classical video of one race or another in high quality but who do we turn to? The F.O.M needs to think more broadly. Why can't they for example have a download website where people can pay to download? What is the purpose of holding copyright of old races yet they don't want anybody to view them in any manner? I can't just understand this way of thinking.

You are absolutely right. They don't care about the fans at all. I was re-watching the Bahrain race the Other day and there were very few fans in the circuit. These new circuits have very few attendees. I attended silverstone last year and it was very expensive to buy the tickets. Infact it was cheaper to fly from Gothenburg to London and back than the cost of one day ticket. The whole weekend was very pricey, yet the circuit was full.

Exactly. It's a similar issue to the one of online streams and just shows how out of touch with the times the FOM bigwigs are. They could impose a small fee for streaming or downloading an old race legally, or for a live stream of a current race with your own choice of commentators, and the costs of setting up systems for this will be outweighed by the profits by a VERY long way. And every penny that would go in via this method would help towards reducing race hosting fees, reducing ticket prices etc. etc. etc....

2000....I don't need all of them, just the one of interest and i have a few from this year but missing:

San-Marino
Spanish
Canadian
French
Hungarian
Belgian and malaysian.

Iam a big Mika fan and iam dying to re-watch especially the races he won.

2003

Most of the races except the belgian and the british grand prix.

2004

Monza and Hockeinheim.

2005

I have only the Australian, US and San marino, Monza and Brazil.

2007

Unfortunately i only have three races from this season.....Australia, monaco and Canada. I would be extremely delighted to own and re-watch hungary, belgian and Brazil.
Thanks alot

I can suggest you a web page that is streaming F1 from I think as late as the 70's to recent :)

Can I suggest to you that the page you have just provided the link for will be removed in the not too distant future?

If you wish to provide links please do it via PM - not via the forums...

Edit: oops... removed link in quote...

the page has been around for ages, any alleged fom spy could have found it simply searching for formula 1 on justin. I'm sure if they have a spy he would be somewhat capable of using search boxes.
